The Eventful and Heartwarming First Month with My Adorable Cat, Gongxi

The Eventful and Heartwarming First Month with My Adorable Cat, Gongxi

I think I can update this slowly.

Yesterday, on October 27, 2018, after attending my friend’s wedding, I was waiting to welcome my little cutie. I decided to get it on the 20th, and my friend didn’t send it until the 27th, so I had a long time to prepare.

I ordered a cat photo. It was after watching this video that I chose him. He was the naughtiest one in the litter.

These are the things I prepared in a week, but I still feel that it’s not complete. The cat bed isn’t in the picture because he doesn’t go in it, so I didn’t include it. And due to my mistake in operation, the cat bed I bought is the same color as him.

My friend was stuck in traffic. When he came to send the cat, it was almost six o’clock in the evening… My partner went downstairs to pick it up and bring it up. I was getting everything ready at home. As soon as we opened the cat carrier, it crawled under the sofa and refused to come out.

We decided to give it some time. The two of us went out for dinner. I originally wanted to give it a humble name because, after all, a humble name makes it easier to raise. But my partner wanted to name it after his product. In the end, we gave it the nickname we had planned for our future child, and we named it Gongxi.

When we came back, we found that there was less cat food in the bowl. We thought he was probably okay. His meowing sound was also very soft, so we used a cat teaser to lure him out, and he really came out.

Then we went to sleep. In the morning, I originally wanted to check if he had urinated outside because I didn’t want to put too much pressure on him, so I didn’t teach him how to use the toilet. Later, I found his poop in the cat litter box… Goodness, he learned it all by himself. But later I also found that except for eating a little cat food last night, he hadn’t touched any other food. I asked my veterinarian friend, who said to prepare some canned food, egg yolks, chicken breasts, etc. I prepared them, but he still didn’t eat. Fortunately, the cat was still very lively.

By the evening, he hadn’t eaten or drunk anything all day. I was a bit worried and could only be anxious. When I was eating bread, he came over and rubbed against me. I tentatively gave him a little, and he ate it!!! Later, he sniffed the cat food mixed with egg yolks and made a motion as if he was burying feces. I quickly replaced it with pure cat food, and he ate it happily.

The canned food, chicken breasts, and egg yolks all ended up feeding the little stray cats downstairs. You’re so kind – hearted.

He still didn’t drink water. Later, I found that he was drinking water from my partner’s cup… Don’t you have a water bowl? Do you think it’s not fancy enough?

Thank goodness I bought a sofa cover in advance because he scratches the sofa like crazy.

I’m here again on November 28, 2018.

Yesterday was the one – month celebration of Gongxi coming to our home. After going through things like getting vaccinated, I feel like I’ve been driven a bit crazy by him. My new worry is that the cat food I’m using now was recommended by my friend when I bought the cat. It’s relatively cheap, but after eating it, his right eye keeps tearing up. When I changed to new cat food, he had diarrhea but didn’t have tears. When he eats the original cat food, he has tears but no diarrhea. I’m really…

He was very obedient when getting vaccinated. The first time we took him to the pet hospital, there were flea droppings on him. Although there were only a little bit, we hadn’t done external deworming, so we did external deworming first and then got the vaccination. But according to what the doctor said to observe for fleas, we didn’t even see a single flea leg. We got the vaccination in the second week, that is, we had raised him for more than 20 days before getting the vaccination. Unexpectedly, he was very well – behaved.

When we were observing him after the vaccination, a British Shorthair cat of the same breed came. That cat was one year old and weighed 9 pounds, while ours was 3 months old and weighed 3 pounds. As soon as ours got into that cat’s carrier, he attacked the other cat. Fortunately, the other cat was timid. If it wasn’t, you would be in trouble. Why are you so bold?

His eyes were full of tears after putting on the eye drops.

When he “fights” with me, he never extends his claws or bites.

I just want to ask, what’s the difference between this behavior and that of a dog?

If you don’t take me with you, you won’t be able to go out.

Now he’s gradually looking more like an adult cat.
