Prevention and Treatment of Ear Mites
When Meihua first arrived home, its ears were so dirty that even the groomer was amazed: Tsk tsk tsk… These ears…
Because it had been a stray for too long, the dirt in its ears, together with oil and other substances, had dried and adhered to the inner wall of the ears. So, it wasn’t cleaned thoroughly that time. Later, I used ear drops, such as Ear – Kang, and so on, but none of them worked!!!
Until I was recommended by a pet blogger to try CÉT Otic (ear cleaner) and Otoderm (ear ointment) from Virbac, France. (To make it easier for you to find them, I’ll post pictures of the products below. Please don’t block me!!!)
It’s these two products used in combination!!!
How to use CÉT Otic: Shake well before use, fill the ear canal with CÉT Otic. (When the liquid enters the ear canal, the cat may have a stress reaction. Cats with a bad temper may kick people, so be careful.) Then gently massage the cat’s ears. This step is to dissolve the dried – up dirt with the medicine. Then… throw your cat as far away as possible (ignore this if you’re not afraid of being splashed with the dirty stuff from its ears). Bring it back and clean the ears with cotton balls.
How to use Otoderm: Use it after using CÉT Otic. After cleaning the ears, squeeze Otoderm at the ear canal opening (about the size of a mung bean. Try to squeeze it a little deeper, but be very careful). Then gently massage the cat’s ears again to make the medicine fully contact the ears.
At the beginning, repeat the above steps every three days or so. After the condition improves, do it once a week, and then once a month. After it’s completely cured, you can just use CÉT Otic to clean the ears. This is based on my experience. (I’m really trying to avoid being criticized. If there’s anything wrong, please don’t mock me.)
Cat Litter
I’ve used many kinds of cat litter:
Crystal cat litter (Recommendation rating: – 5 stars)
At first, who wouldn’t want to be a “crystal little princess” (a humorous way of referring to using crystal cat litter).
Advantages: None! Disadvantages: It’s completely useless!!! And it’s expensive! Poor clumping ability! In short, it has all the disadvantages of cat litter. So, now it’s rarely sold on Taobao.
Bentonite cat litter (Recommendation rating: 3 stars)
Actually, there are still a large number of people using bentonite cat litter for their cats.
Advantages: Cheap, good clumping effect.
Disadvantages: High dust, easy to be carried out of the litter box, can’t be flushed down the toilet, and the deodorizing effect is not ideal. (However, opinions may vary. I also used a type of bentonite cat litter that was really good. Except it was expensive. But being expensive isn’t really its “fault”.)
