he Adoption Stories of a British Shorthair Silver Tabby and a Blue Cat

Both blue cats and silver tabbies belong to the British Shorthair breed. There’s not much difference in their personalities and later body postures.

The choice really depends on your personal preference. Many years ago, not many people raised silver tabbies. A friend of mine told me that she really loved silver tabbies because they were white, chubby, and extremely comfortable, just like glutinous rice balls. Later, in 2016, she got her first cat and named it “Tangyuan” (Glutinous Rice Ball).

During the days when Tangyuan accompanied her, this silver tabby was her daily companion. It had a round face and snow – white fur with a bit of black at the tips. That was the first time I realized that this breed of cat was really beautiful, although I also liked blue cats at that time.

I asked her, “Do you ever get hungry when you call Tangyuan?”

She smiled and said to me, “Yes, I do. But I don’t like eating glutinous rice balls. I named it this way just because it looks like one.”

I joked, “Shouldn’t its nickname be Zhima (Sesame)?”

She was stunned for a moment, then looked at me with her cute big eyes and asked, “Why?”

I said, “Because the silver tabby is not only white but also has some colored hair tips, just like glutinous rice balls with sesame filling.”

We looked at each other and laughed. From then on, Tangyuan had a new nickname, “Zhima”. Although it didn’t quite match the cat, only we knew the meaning of this name.

A long time later, when we were visiting a pet store, we met a blue cat in a cage. Our knowledge of blue cats was very limited. We always thought that blue cats should be blue, but after seeing this cat, we realized that its real color was gray.

Because of its good personality, we brought it home and named it “Duoduo”. At that time, we knew the term “lucky cat”, and we hoped it could bring us a lot of fortune. The implication is that there will be a lot of fortune!
