My mood switches every day between wanting to kill him and loving him to death.
My blue cat was given to me by a friend who runs a cattery. The mother cat got pregnant when she was only seven months old. Since she hadn’t fully developed yet, the whole litter (her first litter) had only one survivor, and this kitten was born with a congenital disability in its hind legs. The eldest in my family is a fat orange cat. Since he’s not very affectionate, I told my friend that I wanted to raise a second cat. She said her cat had given birth and would help me pick one. Now there was only this one left, and it definitely couldn’t be sold, so she asked me if I wanted it. If not, she would keep it herself. Of course, I didn’t mind!
So it was settled.
This is how he looked when my friend brought him over at three months old. You can see that his left hind leg can’t bend at all and he can only limp. My husband jokingly called him “Tieguai Li” (an immortal with a lame leg in Chinese mythology). Hahaha.
Due to his congenital underdevelopment, he looks smaller than cats of the same age, but that doesn’t affect his daily “parkour” at all. To be honest, I’ve hardly ever seen him walk properly. He’s always dashing around.

My daily experience is like this: “Oh, he’s so clingy. Those big watery eyes looking at me just melt my heart. Wow! Eh? Why is he rummaging through the trash again! Come here, I’m going to spank you! Damn it, I can’t catch him. Just wait until I get you, little guy! How can a lame – legged cat run so fast? Oh my god!”
Every day, it’s all about eating, sleeping, and bothering his “big brother”. The eldest cat is almost seven years old and not very active. He also doesn’t get along well with the younger one. So the younger one always goes to provoke him and pounces on him. Before, the younger cat could dash under the eldest cat’s belly, but now that he’s grown bigger, he can only step over him… The house is full of cat fur left from their fights and slaps.
Anyway, the younger cat is already two years old and still very lively and affectionate. He’ll use his paw to touch you to ask you to pet him. After lying down on the ground, he’ll look at you, as if to say, “I’ve already posed, why haven’t you come to pet me yet?”
The estrus period was the worst. Although his legs and feet are not agile, it doesn’t affect his “jumping skills” at all. Every day, he would jump onto my TV cabinet, refrigerator, clothes, cat nest, and bags to pee. Every day when I got home, I would first smell the air to see if there was anything strange, and then I would find the pee and clean it up. The urine during estrus is really stinky. I threw away a lot of things and was so frustrated that I even thought about moving. Later, he was neutered, and it’s good for both him and me.
All in all, because of him, I’ve become much more diligent. When I only had the eldest cat, I mopped the floor only once a week. Now I mop it every day. I also bought a bunch of storage boxes to organize things and never leave things lying around anymore for fear that they would be bitten or peed on. Thanks to him, I also threw away a lot of old things and did a great job of decluttering. Hahaha.
