My Experience of Raising and Breeding British Shorthair Cats

My Experience of Raising and Breeding British Shorthair Cats

Compared with British Shorthair blue – and – white cats, British Shorthair blue cats are definitely cheaper. Because for a good – looking blue – and – white cat, people generally require a proper “eight – character” face, five – pink nose, full – back color, and a connected collar – like pattern, right? The requirements are high, so the price is high. While the requirements for blue cats are not so many, so they are cheaper.

I personally like cats very much. Since I’m a college student, I have a relatively lot of time. Later, I found a seller in the same city on Xianyu. I thought the cats in his home were quite nice. Then I went to his home to see the cats in person and spent 1600 yuan to buy a blue – and – white cat. Now it looks like this.

At first, I just raised it for fun. But later, because I’m a student and have no income, and raising a cat requires renting a house (the school doesn’t allow raising cats in the dormitory) and there are all kinds of expenses, I gradually faced some financial difficulties. So the idea of breeding kittens came to my mind… At that time, I felt quite guilty. Selling the kittens born to my own cat for money felt like an insult to life… And I also felt very sorry for my cat at home, so I bought all kinds of delicious food to compensate it.

After having this idea, I looked for good breeding cats for mating and then did a lot of research. I was worried that something bad might happen when the cat gave birth. Fortunately, both the mother and the kittens were safe. She gave birth to three blue – and – white cats and one blue cat.

When selling the cats, I priced the blue cat at 1000 yuan. Later, I thought the owner really liked cats and would treat the cat well, so I sold it to him for 800 yuan. For the blue – and – white cats with a proper “eight – character” face and five – pink nose, I sold them for 1400 yuan, and the especially beautiful ones for 1600 yuan.

In fact, the British Shorthair breed is not expensive. It just depends on where you sell them. Cats with the same appearance in pet stores are definitely more expensive because they have to pay rent and the full – time staff taking care of the cats also need salaries. And as far as I know, pet stores don’t raise cats by themselves. They all collect cats from other places, which requires a higher cost. Cats from regular catteries are even more expensive because regular catteries sell cats only after they have been vaccinated and sterilized. By then, the cats are usually already five or six months old. All these need costs. As the saying goes, the cost is passed on to the consumers, so the price is understandable!

Some people sent private messages saying that I’m a cat dealer and that my cats are backyard cats. Here I would like to reply uniformly. My cats are carefully raised. My girlfriend and I both like cats. My cats live with us every day. Sometimes my girlfriend even sleeps with them. In terms of food, although we can’t give them the best, we always give them the top – quality domestic cat food. Let me ask, which regular cattery always feeds imported cat food? Don’t they usually mix domestic and imported cat food and then claim that they feed all imported cat food? And when the kittens are one month old and the mother cat doesn’t have enough milk, my girlfriend and I will make milk powder for them to drink to supplement their nutrition. God sees everything we do. I will never do anything against my conscience!
