The Story of My Adopted Blue British Shorthair and Its Kittens

The blue British Shorthair in my family was given to me for free by the owner of a bookstore. Originally, it was supposed to be a wife for my sister’s big blue cat. But by some coincidence (omit 10,000 words here), I became its owner. It was two years old when it came, a complete coward with extremely poor adaptability. It took me several months to get it familiar with me, and now it follows me everywhere.

After it came to my home, I found that it was already pregnant. It gave birth to two kittens. The short – haired one was taken away by my mother. The other one had long hair due to atavism, was healthy, beautiful, and full of charm. A relative who had reserved it couldn’t take it away due to other reasons. With a heavy heart, I sold it for 500 yuan, along with seven cans of cat food and half a bag of cat kibble. The conditions were that it must be sterilized at the appropriate age, fed natural cat food, and accept irregular follow – up visits.

At that time, I thought that if someone could accept these conditions, I would give it away for free. But my friends said it wasn’t appropriate. Because we didn’t know that family well. Just listening to nice words, who knows if they would treat the cat well. And if they were not even willing to spend 500 yuan, things that are too easily obtained won’t be cherished. I thought it made sense, although this little money couldn’t even cover the costs.

At first, seeing a blue British Shorthair was quite novel. But in essence, it’s just a cat. For a pet cat at home, having a good personality and being healthy are the most crucial. The appearance is not the only standard. Choose a price that you can psychologically afford. I think when the cat is gone, you should only be sad about the cat rather than the money. There’s no need to always pursue the best. If the cat’s parents are good – looking and very healthy, the cat kittens generally won’t have major problems.

I would also like to add that try not to choose Scottish Folds. My domestic cat was a straight – eared cat paired with a Scottish Fold. As a result, one kitten had long hair due to atavism in a very magical way, and the other one started to walk awkwardly on its right hind leg when it was about four months old. The doctor couldn’t find anything wrong at the hospital. Fortunately, I kept it to raise myself. It took a lot of effort to gradually get it better. So, I sincerely suggest not to buy Scottish Folds. The genetic problems are really troublesome. You might be unlucky and encounter problems.
