My Journey of Raising Blue British Shorthairs: Ups and Downs

My Journey of Raising Blue British Shorthairs: Ups and Downs

I’ve raised two blue British Shorthairs, so here’s my story… The first one was bought in November last year (for 650 yuan) from an individual seller found on Xianyu. I spent one night choosing a cat from the moment I decided to raise one. The post said the cat was free of diseases and ringworm.

Later, when I was about to confirm the purchase, the seller told me the cat had a bit of tear stains recently (blame me for not knowing anything, yet I still insisted on buying it). After bringing it home and raising it for about a week, when I took it for a physical examination, the doctor said it had ascites. I was a bit stunned at that time. On the way back, the more I thought about it, the sadder I felt.

How could such a cute kitten have ascites? In the end, after about three days of treatment, it passed away. After that, I raised a Chinese Li Hua cat in the middle… (Details omitted here) A few days ago, after much thought, I still wanted to raise a blue British Shorthair. So I looked on Xianyu again (since I also sell things on Xianyu, I still have some trust in it).

The seller’s place was about a twenty – minute drive from mine. The cats were home – bred. I went to the seller’s house and saw the cat mother and other siblings. I thought it was quite reliable, so I decided to buy one. The original price was 1400 yuan, and I bargained it down to 1000 yuan. The seller said the cat had received one dose of vaccine, and we finally closed the deal at 1100 yuan. I brought it home on Saturday night and took it for a physical examination yesterday.

I strongly requested a B – scan to check for ascites. Fortunately, this cat is healthy. Thank goodness. Now I have two cats, the Li Hua cat sister (over one year old) and the blue British Shorthair sister (three months old). However, the two cats are still getting used to each other. Through comparison, I found that the personalities of pet cats are really good.

Whether it was the previous one or the current one, they are not very fierce. Chinese rural cats are relatively fiercer (although it’s also very clingy to me). So I highly recommend raising a blue British Shorthair. Of course, cats from catteries are more expensive. I went to the flower – and – bird market before, and the price there was no less than 2000 yuan. If your budget is tight, you can consider home – bred cats. The key is to definitely visit the seller’s home to see the living environment of the previous cats. I don’t know how good the appearance of this cat is, but I think it’s worth it. As long as I like it, that’s enough.
