The Hilarious and Heartwarming Story of My Blue – and – White British Shorthair’s Motherhood

On January 28, 2021, the kittens are over five months old, and the mother cat has also been sterilized. There are two cats left at home now, and the cats now form a happy family of three!

Finally, I can post pictures!

This is a picture of it lying on my computer and causing trouble.

I have a blue – and – white British Shorthair. It’s nearly two years old now.

It has been very obedient since it was a kitten. It’s very timid, but it trusts me and my mother unconditionally. It loves to act cute and is very clingy.

If there’s any shortcoming, it’s probably that it’s too silly.

My family and I decided to let it have a litter of kittens before sterilization, and then we would choose the one that we liked the most among the second – generation kittens to raise together.

During pregnancy, it behaved normally and wasn’t as picky about food as usual (I took this opportunity to feed it all the main – meal canned food I bought for it before).

When it was pregnant, we took it for a complete physical examination and asked many details about helping with the birth. The doctor, who has been giving it vaccines, doing physical examinations, and treating it since it was a kitten, gently told us not to worry too much. The cat would give birth on its own.

I’m a person who likes to plan ahead. Even though the doctor said so, I still made thorough preparations.

The day of giving birth came. It looked around for a place to give birth. It didn’t want to go to any of the three delivery rooms we prepared. It ran to my wardrobe and meowed. After a little mental struggle, I emptied the wardrobe and made it into a delivery room.

After the birth started, I found that this cat didn’t know how to give birth at all. When giving birth to the first kitten, it didn’t want to push hard halfway through. I gently touched its belly, and reluctantly, it gave birth to the first kitten, but it didn’t even look at the kitten. I had to push aside its legs, pull out the first kitten, tear off the amniotic sac, and hand it to the mother cat. Only then did it remember that it had given birth to a kitten and started to eat the placenta and bite the umbilical cord.

I handed the following six kittens to its mouth one by one. Then, maybe it was tired. After the third kitten, it no longer bit the umbilical cords of the kittens. Fortunately, I had prepared tools before, or I would have been in a panic…

(These are the kittens just a few days after birth)

Now, after the kittens were born, my mother and I take turns watching over them, because this cat really can crush the kittens. Every time it turns over, I have to count whether there are six kittens. Most of the time, I can find that several kittens are being crushed.

After giving birth, it’s also very responsible. It doesn’t want to go outside the delivery room to eat. I can only bring the food to it. It doesn’t eat by itself and wants me to feed it by hand. These two days, it’s much better. It knows to go outside and wander around. As soon as it comes out of the delivery room, it circles around me, acting cute and asking for a hug. At this time, I feel that no matter how much effort I put into taking care of it, it’s worth it, because it’s as warm and sweet as raising a daughter.

In addition, it also doesn’t remember to stimulate the kittens to excrete. I watched the monitor and found that this cat hardly licked the kittens’ bottoms after giving birth… Now I can only use wet wipes and cotton swabs to stimulate the kittens to excrete. I’m really worried to death.

After this experience, I decided to sincerely suggest to my friends who want to adopt the second – generation female cat in my family to definitely take it to be sterilized, or you will experience the feeling of being a cat’s mother.

I don’t know if other breeds are like this. Anyway, my blue – and – white British Shorthair is the silliest one I’ve ever seen.

Finally, post two more pictures of the second – generation kittens.

We chose the third kitten as the “prince” and will keep it at home later~
