My Adorable and Affordable Blue British Shorthair: A Heartwarming Adoption Story

My Adorable and Affordable Blue British Shorthair: A Heartwarming Adoption Story

In terms of money, my blue British Shorthair is probably the least valuable. After all, he was “kicked out” when he was over three months old because he ate too much (just kidding).

My friend bought a British Longhair a couple of years ago. Last year, when it was in heat, she had it bred. She gave away one kitten, sold one, and was left with a blue – and – white female kitten and a blue – colored male kitten. The male blue – colored kitten eats as much food as the female kitten plus their mother cat every day. My friend said she really couldn’t afford to raise him anymore and since no one wanted to buy him, she decided to let me raise him. After all, I’m someone she knows well and who really loves cats. So, I took the little male kitten home and sent my friend an 88 – yuan red envelope.

Now the little guy is almost one year old. Besides the money spent on vaccines and sterilization, it’s just daily expenses, including food and drink (Solid Gold cat food and C’estbon water, and occasionally some snacks and chicken breast), play (more than ten cat – teaser sticks and two cat – scratching boards), and daily needs (cat litter and cat – litter boxes).

I do the deworming for him myself. I do external deworming every month and internal deworming every three months. The little guy is timid, so I haven’t taken him to take a bath. When I remember, I wipe him with hand – free cleaning gloves.

The little guy is also very worry – free. He has a good temper and is a bit clingy. He doesn’t poop or pee randomly. His sister pooped on my friend’s sofa many times.

The little guy weighs 14 pounds now, and I’m also controlling his food intake. I heard that many British Shorthairs have hereditary heart disease. I hope the little guy can always be happy and healthy.

Looking at the old photos, I’m here to update again.

This is a photo of him with his sister when he was ten months old. His sister’s weight is half of his (but still gets beaten up by him).

The comparison between when he was a kitten and now.

Update on September 13, 2021

My baby is one year and five months old.

Let me share some more photos of my baby.
