Why I Don't Recommend Raising a Bichon Frise

Why I Don’t Recommend Raising a Bichon Frise

I don’t recommend that people raise Bichon Frises.

Bichon Frises are very cute, but don’t be attracted just because of their appearance.

Ordinary people really can’t raise Bichon Frises easily, even though they don’t shed much hair.

As long as you do a good job in preventing and treating ear mites and deworming, these problems are easy to solve.

If they have a lot of thick fur, you can take them to get groomed and bathed frequently, and you don’t have to comb their hair every day by yourself.

So, some of the situations mentioned about Bichon Frises here can actually also exist in other dogs.

If the above – mentioned situations are not problems, then why can’t ordinary people raise Bichon Frises?

Bichon Frises are prone to tear stains.

Some dog breeds’ eyes are particularly likely to produce secretions, and these secretions can lead to the formation of tear stains.

The secretions are something like red blood filaments as shown in the picture, and they have extremely strong staining ability.

Poodles also have this tear – stain – prone constitution.

For white or light – colored fur around the eyes, encountering such secretions is a disaster.

If your Bichon Frise becomes like this, can you still love it?

After all, didn’t you want to raise it because of its good looks?

Don’t just look at how beautiful Bichon Frises are in online pictures. That’s not real life. Those pictures are something that would be targeted and banned by the “315” campaign (a campaign in China to protect consumers’ rights) if they were exposed.

And don’t just listen to what people say about what’s good for wiping away tear stains.

Fighting against tear stains is a long – term thing. Internally, you need to adjust the diet, which is extremely important. Externally, you need to wipe the eyes frequently and also bathe the dog often.

If you want to get rid of tear stains, either you become a super – strong warrior and spend a lot of energy and time on it, or you just don’t raise dogs with light – colored fur around the eyes.

After all, there was a young and inexperienced person working in a pet store who raised a Bichon Frise in the store and spent all day cleaning up after it, but still couldn’t solve the tear – stain problem.

I’m a lazy person. I don’t like to cause trouble for myself.

I like to see dogs looking beautiful. For those that require a lot of daily time for grooming, I’d rather give up raising them.

Not very intelligent

Although the Bichon Frise ranks 45th in IQ, I also believe that some Bichon Frises are quite smart and cute.

Just like my Border Collie, I think it’s like a fool among Border Collies.

But the overall evaluation is not high.

I’ve asked many friends who run pet stores, and it seems that their impressions of Bichon Frises are not very good.

The general evaluation is “stupid”.

“Stupid” means they are not easy to train, and behavioral problems can be very torturous for the owner.

Excessive barking, separation anxiety, random urination and defecation, and destroying things are behavioral problems. Not every Bichon Frise will have these problems, but if they do, it’s actually normal. You just need to train them.

For a smarter dog, behavioral problems may be corrected in a few times.

But for a less – intelligent one, it may take twenty, thirty, fifty, or even a hundred times to correct.

I really admire dog trainers. They don’t get angry even when a dog makes the same mistake many times.

Their temper is as good as that of a Bodhisattva.

If you don’t have a good temper and patience, really don’t challenge raising a Bichon Frise.

You may buy a Bichon Frise with impure bloodlines.

There was such an incident. In the Bichon Frise business circle, there was a small group of people who thought that Poodles and Bichon Frises were the same kind of dog and mated them together.

The puppies look just like Bichon Frises, but there are some differences in the legs. Experienced people can still tell.

If a “Poodle – who – loves – to – mate” is involved, it may become a “Bichon – who – loves – to – mate”.

There was a male Bichon Frise in the community that was neutered because of this.

It’s quite common to be deceived when buying a dog.
