My Bichon Frise, Timo, is four years old this year. She’s a little girl. To be honest, I haven’t carefully calculated how much I spend on her each month because the things I buy for her may vary from month to month, so the monthly expenses are not always the same. But sometimes, I really don’t hesitate when buying things for Timo.
Bathing her at home is really exhausting, so I got a membership card (500 yuan) at the pet store for her to take baths. In summer, she takes a bath once a week, which costs 30 yuan. In winter, sometimes she takes a bath once a week, and if she hasn’t bathed for two weeks, I’ll take her for a soak, which costs either 50 or 60 yuan each time. Grooming means trimming her fur. Timo’s fur grows very fast, so I have her groomed every one to two months, and it costs 80 – 100 yuan. I don’t necessarily go to the store where I got the membership card for grooming; I may also choose other stores for her styling.

For Timo’s food, she used to eat some no – name brand dog food recommended by the owner of the pet store where she came from. At that time, I didn’t know much about dog food. I thought it was like rice, as long as she could eat it. But later I found out it wasn’t the case. I was really rough back then. (◍•͈⌔•͈◍) And Timo has a delicate stomach. She’ll vomit if she eats something bad. For a while, I made steamed buns for her myself, thinking it was nutritious and clean. But it was really tiring. (๑U_U๑) Chopping vegetables is no joke, and it takes a lot of time. Also, eating soft food for a long time isn’t good for her teeth. However, it can be a good way to change her taste occasionally. And making steamed buns at home isn’t cheap either. I need beef, carrots, broccoli, potatoes, eggs, and purple sweet potatoes.
Timo loves to eat them. When I posted pictures on Moments, a lot of my friends left messages saying they were drooling. Hahaha. Now she eats OCEAN FISH, and I buy the 12 – jin large package, which costs 425 yuan and can last for about three months.
For vaccinations, there are six – in – one, four – in – one, rabies, and toxoplasma vaccines. Well… She needs to get vaccinated every year, and it seems like she gets two shots each year. The cost is around 300 yuan.
I’ve bought a lot of topical medications. I have all kinds of them, and they add up to more than a few hundred yuan. And some of the medications may be used only once and then expire, so I have to replace them with new ones.
Timo also has a bunch of clothes. A cheap four – legged dog clothes costs about 35 – 45 yuan, and she has about ten pieces, maybe even more.
A leash is a must. I always put a leash on her when going out. Bichon Frises are a naughty breed, and they’re very curious about the outside world. No matter what kind of dog it is, it’s necessary to put a leash on it when going out. It’s good for the dog and for others. I’ve changed leashes many times. I don’t buy those retractable leashes because I’m afraid to let her go too far. I always feel it’s not safe. Now I’ve been using this one. I think it’s thicker, and she should feel more comfortable wearing it. Haha.
Before, when taking Timo out for a walk, I would buy those small bags to pick up her poop. But later, I thought it was unnecessary to tear and open them, so I switched to using newspapers.
If a dog gets sick, the cost is very high. But Timo is quite healthy. Besides having an upset stomach and vomiting occasionally (and the number of times is very few), she only got sick once, which was a cold. Taking her to the hospital for an IV drip cost four or five hundred yuan. Note that it’s just for one IV drip.
In fact, Bichon Frises are no less clingy than Poodles. Hahaha. Because Timo has white fur, I rarely take her out. She’s really delicate. When going out, she can’t play too wildly. Her skin is too sensitive, and sometimes she gets skin diseases from other dogs or something unknown.
On Timo’s birthday, I’ll buy her a cake. She has a birthday once a year, and the cake isn’t expensive, about 60 yuan. I think celebrating her birthday is very heart – warming. I feel that my baby has grown one year older, and we’re growing up together slowly.
Anyway, whenever I see something fun or useful for dogs, I’ll buy it for Timo. That’s about it.
