The Hilarious and Heartwarming Story of DouDou, Our Golden Retriever

Once, my roommates and I raised a Golden Retriever named DouDou. When we first brought her home, she was this soft little puppy. Just thinking about it still makes me feel she was incredibly cute. DouDou was extremely fond of playing with water. We had to lock the bathroom door when taking a shower, otherwise, she would barge in and try to join us. She would get excited for ages whenever she heard someone turn on the tap to wash their hands.

Later, one day DouDou got sick. Two other girls in the dormitory took her to the pet hospital. When they came back, they said it wasn’t a serious problem and that some medicine would do the trick. Then, we noticed something strange. DouDou had no issue when girl B and I fed her the medicine, but girl A couldn’t do it. In fact, DouDou would even growl at her in a cute – angry way. Eventually, it got to the point where when girl A called DouDou, DouDou just ignored her. This made our poor girl A cry for quite a while. To figure out the reason, we held a little meeting for self – criticism and discussion. Then girl A slapped her thigh and said, “I was the one holding DouDou when the doctor took her temperature… with a thermometer in her bottom!”

Rumor has it that the doctor wasn’t very gentle that day, and DouDou howled for a long time. Due to the angle, DouDou didn’t see who did it to her…

So, that’s how you can make a Golden Retriever angry… Maybe it’s by doing something like that to her bottom.

The follow – up was that when DouDou was five months old, she was sent to girl A’s grandma’s house. Yes, it was girl A. Such is the strange twist of fate.

Now, it’s been over six years since we graduated. Last year, when I attended girl A’s wedding, I specifically went to her grandma’s house to see DouDou. Now, she’s no longer a slender Golden Retriever but has become a “Golden Pig.” Time truly is like pig feed. However, she will always be my little DouDou in my heart.

I still have the photos of six years ago on my computer. Little DouDou was so cute.

These were taken by photographing the computer screen, so the pixel quality is poor.

There’s another photo taken when we went to see DouDou at girl A’s grandma’s house before graduation. By then, she had grown into a big girl.

Girl A herself was over – fed by her grandma and became chubby, so was DouDou. Such is the inescapable fate.
