Rescuing and Raising Qianqian: A Memorable Journey with My New – Arrival Puppy

This is what she looked like when I first brought her back. She was dirty all over, had diarrhea, and smelled really bad! She didn’t look cute at all.

The next day, I took her to the pet store for a bath. The staff there said she might have parvovirus and suggested a check – up. Well, after the examination, it turned out she had coronavirus (it’s a kind of bacteria or virus in dogs’ stomach, not the novel coronavirus that infects humans). There was no choice but to treat her. She needed infusions and injections, and 540 yuan was gone in one day. For me, with a monthly salary of 2,000 yuan, this was quite expensive.

When I brought her back in the evening, I started making calls to ask friends one by one, searching on Baidu and Zhihu. Then I turned to a friend who has been raising dogs for many years for advice. He said this illness wasn’t that serious and could be treated at home. He then told me a prescription, but it would take several days for the medicine to be delivered. Seeing the dog listless made me really anxious, so I looked for other prescriptions that were available for purchase online. Then I started fasting and water – fasting the dog, giving her medicine, and supplementing her nutrition. I cooked two egg yolks and added a vial of glucose for each meal. During those days, the dog was really hungry and wanted to eat everything she saw.

On the third day, the medicine sent by my friend finally arrived. Amazingly, the dog’s stool became normal. But then she started to have a runny nose. It really made me worry a lot. However, the dog became energetic, able to run and jump, so the medicine for coronavirus could be stopped.

It’s been more than ten days since the dog came home. Her name is Qianqian. She can recognize her name, sit, go up and down the stairs, and pee and poop outside. When no one plays with her, she likes to sleep in the toilet. I have no idea what she’s thinking. I bought her a dog kennel, but she’s never slept in it. Because I scolded her for pooping in the living room last time, she took her little toys and moved to the toilet to sleep. She still refuses to move out.

These are the photos of taking her downstairs to the toilet today. Currently, she’s still taking the medicine for her runny nose. She likes to giggle. I feel like I, who isn’t married yet, have already experienced the feeling of raising a child in advance. A dog is like a furry child. She has her own thoughts, although her IQ might not be high. Yes, I’m talking about this silly dog, Qianqian. She went to play with water by the fish tank again and came back all dirty. Well, I’m going to pet the dog now.
