Before raising a Teddy dog, I had kept Pekingese, Samoyeds, Rough Collies, Labradors, and native Chinese dogs. I also often played with a friend’s Corgi. Initially, I wanted to raise a Corgi, but Corgis shed a lot. Later, I found that Teddy dogs were the most suitable for me. I once had a male Teddy and gave it away. Currently, I have a female Teddy, and I’ll keep her for her entire life and won’t give her away again. In the future, I might raise a grey Teddy as well.
Advantages of Teddy Dogs:
Intelligent, ranking second in dog intelligence. It has been proven that raising an intelligent dog is much better than raising a not – so – smart one. The Pekingese I had was not very intelligent. Teddy dogs basically don’t need much teaching. They can figure out on their own to relieve themselves in the bathroom and won’t mess around in the house.

They don’t shed, so there’s not a single dog hair in my house.
They have no unpleasant odor and don’t drool. The drooling of large – breed dogs is really unbearable.
They are very clingy (although some people may not like clingy dogs), extremely cute, and have a kind of endearing, mischievous charm.
They are highly suitable for living in an apartment building. My Teddy dog is free – range at home and is never caged.
Disadvantages of Teddy Dogs:
They are extremely timid. Sometimes, a sudden noise will make them bark loudly. Female Teddies are much quieter than male ones.
They can be snobbish. When guests come to the house, if it doesn’t like someone, it will keep barking non – stop. But if it takes a liking to someone, it will stop barking after just two barks. Interestingly, it seems to be quite good at judging people. Usually, the people it doesn’t like are also those I don’t like. My cousin has liver and lung diseases, and I’m quite concerned about that. When he came to our house for a meal, the dog kept barking without a break, constantly growling at him. Maybe it could smell the illness on him. When my classmates come to play, the dog barks twice and then stops and starts playing with them. It also keeps barking at people who come to check the gas, water, or electricity.
They cost more than other dogs. Their fur needs to be trimmed every two months or so. Here, the grooming fees are either 80 yuan or 100 yuan, with not much difference. But after grooming, they look really nice.
Female Teddies also show humping – like behaviors. I don’t know why, but she will hump the corners of the quilt, the corners of the pillow, any soft, corner – shaped places. Whenever I catch her doing this, I scold her to stop.
