Well… I just picked her up.
Although it could also be said that I sort of “abducted” her.
On the Ghost Festival, I saw her eating garbage and just forcibly picked her up and took her home to raise.
I had only raised dogs before and had no experience with cats.
So, I muddled through and raised her bit by bit.
Gradually, we got cat litter, cat grass, a cat climbing frame, toys, snacks, deworming medicine, a running water dispenser, and a cat carrier.
I was worried about her getting into trouble, so I took her to the pet hospital in the city with the best – known techniques for spaying. While the market price was between 400 – 600 yuan, I ended up spending over 800 yuan, not including the three – day post – operation care.

If you say she’s well – behaved, she throws things around the house every day and doesn’t let me hold her. Taking a bath seems like it’s killing her.
But if you say she’s not well – behaved, I used the injection techniques I learned in college for dealing with rats, dogs, and rabbits to give her anti – inflammatory injections, and she never struggled. Also, she’s like a demure young lady who never goes out, not even near the door.
She accompanied me through “running away” and several moves. She was so timid…
I always thought that tabby cats had a long lifespan, and I was prepared to be with her for at least 16 years. But who knew she would leave suddenly before our 6 – year acquaintance anniversary.
Actually, she had reminded me many times that she wasn’t feeling well. The color of her urine was off. But it was exactly when I was changing jobs, and I was so busy with my own things. I always thought I still had 10 years with her and that since the hospital didn’t find any problems, she was really okay. I didn’t pay attention to her subtle changes. She started to be clingy, sleeping at my feet when I was in bed and beside me when I was on the sofa. She had never done this before.
Afraid that she would be lonely, I got another cat. But then I gave all my attention to the younger one, always thinking that she was in good health and there was no problem.
Some people say that when taking care of pets, there are always some issues to figure out. My eldest “daughter” used her life to remind us to pay attention. Now, no matter how much I dote on the youngest, it can’t be the same as her.
Seeing the answers from others in this question, I’m glad that black tabby cats look more or less alike. It makes me feel a bit better to think that she might be living a happier life in someone else’s home. Although her paw – print pattern and fur color were really unique, with her paws being a mix of red and black.
I hope you won’t suffer in your next life… My black tabby Mimi.
It will be a year in August. I hope you’ve been reincarnated happily and have forgotten about these tough days in this life…
