It wasn’t me who chose the tabby cat; instead, my big black cat chose it for me. I have 3.5 cats at home, and the tabby cat is that “0.5 cat”!
I’m located in the US, and there’s a pet door at home. My big black cat, a very hospitable Maine Coon – Persian mix, showed great compassion when he saw the skinny wild tabby cat in the backyard. He warmly invited the tabby cat to come in and eat his cat food. When I gave my big black cat cat treats, he would share them with the tabby cat, looking at the tabby cat with patient and kind – looking eyes as it ate.
At first, the tabby cat only stayed overnight at our place during rainy or snowy days. Now, it has become so comfortable that it sleeps on the chair and in the closet as if no one else is around. The tabby cat and the big black cat are inseparable. The two male cats squeeze together to sleep every day, showing so much “affection” that it’s like they’re “feeding us dog food” (showing overly affectionate behavior). Hey, you two, are you just going to ignore the female tortoiseshell cat, the “goddess” beside you?
However, the tabby cat should be considered my big black cat’s cat, not mine. It doesn’t let me touch it and runs away whenever it sees people. If I corner it, it hisses and hisses again. One day, when I opened the closet, I heard a series of hisses. Looking down, I saw the tabby cat squatting in the closet, with an expression that seemed to say, “Don’t come near me.”
But there’s only one situation where the tabby cat can be touched, and that’s when it’s sleeping with the big black cat. The tabby cat will bury its face in the big black cat’s belly and endure being touched by us humans. It’s really adorable. So, I took the opportunity when it was being affectionate with the big black cat to catch it, give it a bath, and apply flea and tick treatment. Now, the tabby cat is an honorary member of our cat family.
Incidentally, because of the big black cat’s enthusiastic feeding, the tabby cat has now become a 14 – pound chubby cat.
The big black cat eats at home with complete ease, while the tabby cat is always in a state of being ready to run, stretching its neck as long as it can.
It often sneaks into the closet uninvited.
The tabby cat licks everyone’s plate.
We get “cat – couple affection” every day.
With its vigilant little eyes.
The other two cats in the house watch the tabby cat.
It “feeds” me with their “cat – couple love” every day.
