Xiaohua: The Adorable and Loyal Cat, My Precious Companion

Xiaohua: The Adorable and Loyal Cat, My Precious Companion

My little Xiaobaozi is the most considerate “little cotton – padded jacket”. After raising it, I’ve deeply realized that a cat’s personality is the most important thing, while its appearance is secondary. Of course, having both a great personality and a good look is the happiest thing.

One rainy morning in the summer of 2007, I saw the tiny it in the shed with sundries in the open space downstairs. As I was in a hurry to go to work, I left all the cat food in my bag. It wasn’t scared and meowed weakly a few times. Then this little guy settled down downstairs. Because of its good looks and fearless nature towards people, the neighbors all liked it, and it never had to worry about food and drink. In a blink of an eye, it was October, and the weather was getting colder. I really couldn’t bear to let it freeze outside, so I picked up the cat carrier and directly took it to the pet hospital for a physical examination, immunization, and deworming. The doctor said it was a male cat less than one year old and was very healthy. I took it home and isolated it. A week later, it was neutered and became my third “son”. Yes, I also have two white cats at home. I’m especially glad that I took the initiative in time because several neighbors liked it and wanted to take it home.

Since its markings were more like leopard spots rather than stripes, I named it Xiaobaozi (Little Leopard). But who would have thought that this little one was completely different from its name. Its personality was extremely soft and cute. Not only was it a size smaller than my two original cats, but it also had no air of dominance at all. It was affectionate towards humans but not towards other cats. It never dared to provoke its two “brothers”, and later I called it Xiaohua. This little one likes to stick to people and sleep next to them. It never scratches or bites. It trusts me unconditionally. Sometimes when it hears its name called, it will come running eagerly. It’s as smart and loyal as a little dog. I really feel like I’ve found a treasure.

More than ten years have passed in a flash. Xiaohua has never been sick and is still so cute. Its only shortcoming is that it’s a bit gluttonous. My eldest cat has been in cat heaven for three years. The second one is a 12 – pound white chubby, a 16 – year – old “old man”. Now I only hope these two little ones stay healthy. They have accompanied me for longer than any relatives. They are my children and the motivation for me to live. Love you both.
