Tabby cats are also known as Chinese rural cats. There are a lot of stray cats in the community of my small town. I can always see stray cats of all sizes. The one in my family was brought back by me by chance.
Compared with many other pets, tabby cats are quite easy to raise. However, it still depends on how much effort you can put in. When I first picked up my cat, it was covered in lice and extremely dirty. When I bathed it, so many lice would jump onto my hands. Since it’s a female cat, when it reached the heat period, I had it spayed. Right after the spaying, it encountered gastrointestinal problems. It was quite a struggle for a while, and I was worried every day.

But it managed to recover tenaciously. Another time, it slipped out through a hole in the window screen to fight with stray cats outside and got bitten on the face, which led to ringworm. We had a battle of wits. It didn’t want the medicine, but I had to apply it. The process took about a month (applying the medicine for ringworm was a bit painful). It took a long time for the fur on the part of its face where the medicine was applied to grow back. It looked really ugly during that period.
My cat isn’t as smart as other cats; it’s a bit slow – witted. During its growth, it’s lively and active, and has quite a bit of destructive power. There were times when it accidentally hurt others. Regular bathing and nail – trimming are really necessary.
I mainly feed it cat food and rarely cook for it myself. Occasionally, I give it hair – ball remedy, nutritional paste, and canned food as supplements. It loves to crawl under the covers. As long as the windows and sliding doors at home aren’t locked, it can open them. My cat can even go out from the balcony and come in through the window of my room (I live on the first floor. If you live on a high floor, be careful when training to prevent falls from a height). So it can be a bit disturbing to my rest, but I’m used to it. Also, if you have a cleanliness obsession, you need to consider this. Cats like to climb up and down, get close to people, jump onto the bed, and crawl under the covers. They also shed a lot of hair during the season – changing periods.
That’s about it. Raising a cat is really great. It will greet you every day when you get home, and it makes me feel so happy.
I won’t talk anymore. It’s jumped onto my bed again, and its big face is right in front of me. The pictures are from before. It’s even fatter now.
