My Lovely and Heart - melting Tabby Cat, Xiaonian'gao

My Lovely and Heart – melting Tabby Cat, Xiaonian’gao

Tabby cats are so well – behaved and heart – rending. I really love my little Xiaonian’gao.

Xiaonian’gao is a stray cat I picked up last Tuesday. On the first day at my home, he didn’t eat anything. So I fed him goat milk. In the afternoon of that day, he didn’t drink. Maybe he was a bit scared in the strange environment. Then in the evening, when I was doing my homework, I put his little nest on my desk. When I heard him meowing, I opened his nest. He licked his mouth at me, so I fed him goat milk. Unexpectedly, he drank four spoons with a “smack – smack” sound. My heart just melted at that moment.

The following are pictures taken on the first day I brought him back.

Xiaonian’gao’s eyes looked so pitiful. I held him all the way home, and he didn’t resist at all. He was so obedient, not scratching or biting.

This picture was taken on the first night he was back.

On the second day, Xiaonian’gao started to eat cat food on his own. But the previous night, he might have been scared and kept meowing. I didn’t sleep well all night.

In the afternoon of the second day, I took him for a physical examination. I was afraid that he might have feline panleukopenia and not live long. My voice was trembling when I talked to the doctor. I almost couldn’t hold back my tears. Fortunately, Xiaonian’gao is very strong and healthy.

The doctor and nurses who examined him kept praising Xiaonian’gao for his good temper, beautiful appearance and big eyes. Suddenly, I had a feeling like a mother.

The doctor said that Xiaonian’gao was probably only one month old, just weaned. He could be dewormed and bathed after growing for another month, and vaccinated when he was three months old.

That night, Xiaonian’gao pooped for the first time. He peed on the floor on the first day. I wiped up his urine and threw it into the litter box. I don’t know if it was because of this. On the second night, Xiaonian’gao struggled to run into the litter box and pooped his first “home – poop” after ending his stray life.

In the evening, Xiaonian’gao wasn’t as noisy as the first day. He meowed fewer times and his voice was softer.

On the third day, that is, last Thursday, Xiaonian’gao was already very well – behaved. He peed and pooped in the litter box.

However, my mom found out that I was raising a cat in my rental room at night. I’m a junior in college now. My mom didn’t want it to affect my study and thought I couldn’t keep the place clean. So she asked me to give the cat to my sister.

I argued with my mom for a long time, and then with my dad. Finally, they compromised.

That night, Xiaonian’gao seemed to know that he was going to be sent away. He was very good and quiet, not making any noise.

I got up on Friday morning. When I saw Xiaonian’gao looking at me, his little head turning around, I couldn’t help crying.

In the afternoon, I took a bus home. Xiaonian’gao climbed out of his cat nest and got into my clothes. He slept quietly on my shoulder for over an hour.

That morning, Xiaonian’gao was already very close to me. He would climb up my pants and lie on my legs.

When I brought Xiaonian’gao home, something unexpected happened. My mom looked at Xiaonian’gao, smiled and said, “Let’s keep it ourselves.” My dad looked at Xiaonian’gao and said, “This cat is so cute.”

I thought my mom disliked animals like cats. But when Xiaonian’gao meowed at night, she still got up, picked him up and stroked him, saying she would make clothes for him.

Because I had an exam on Sunday, I left yesterday. Unexpectedly, Xiaonian’gao vomited last night and had difficulty pooping in the litter box this morning. My mom called me. I remembered that my friend might have fed Xiaonian’gao cat food cans.

I was extremely worried at school this morning and wanted to cry all the time. I searched on Baidu and asked doctors on WeChat. My friend was also very anxious and helped me contact the doctor. Later, the doctor said that maybe Xiaonian’gao had never eaten cat food cans before, ate too fast and got choked. We should observe him for one day to see if he would still vomit and could eat.

Now Xiaonian’gao can drink water. My mom is taking good care of him. I hope Xiaonian’gao will get better soon.
