Cuihua: The Precious Kitten I Rescued

Cuihua: The Precious Kitten I Rescued

Cuihua is the treasure I picked up during my part – time job in the summer vacation of 2017.

On a rainy day, she was alone, carefully hiding under a small eave, meowing desperately. Feeling sorry for her, I walked over and put a cup of hot water and a ham sausage in front of her. She neither ate nor ran away, just kept hiding there and meowing desperately.

I didn’t think about taking her home – my parents said there could only be one “beast” at home. If I was there, there couldn’t be a cat, and if there was a cat, I couldn’t be there.

I didn’t dare risk my own safety, thinking: Life and death are determined by fate. I hope she has great fortune.

But I didn’t forget about her in my heart!

During dinner that night, I exaggeratedly told my mother about her situation. My summary was “She’s almost dying in the rain.” My mother, being soft – hearted, said, “We can’t just watch her die. Bring her back first.”

The next day, I rushed to see her, fearing that she had already moved. Fortunately… She was still there, not even having moved the brick she was squatting on. But having meowed for so long, her voice was hoarse, and she could hardly meow…

I burst into tears on the spot, and with teary eyes, I carried her into the store and took the first photo of her.

She couldn’t meow, one of her eyes couldn’t open, and she was so small that I could hold her up with one hand.

I once thought she would be mute and blind for the rest of her life, thinking, “Well, even if you’re disabled, I’ll still raise you for a lifetime.”

It was summer at that time, and her body was crawling with fleas and lice. I didn’t think my mother would be so generous as to let her enter the house without a bath. But she was really too small, and many pet stores refused to take on this business. Later, through connections and several requests, a pet store finally gave her a medicated bath.

【When I got off work in the evening, I carried her home in the bag that I used to put my high – heeled shoes in.】

【I took her to get vaccinated and dewormed internally by putting her in a schoolbag.】

Strangely enough, I never thought about the question of “whether she could survive”, and she didn’t show the slightest distrust. She didn’t struggle or try to escape. Whether I put her in a bag or a schoolbag, she was obedient.

She wasn’t afraid of strangers at all! As soon as she got home, she slept sprawled out!

People say that humble names make it easier to raise a child (or in this case, a pet). I thought of names like “Tiezhu”, “Ergou”, “Dachui”, but when I called her with these names, she didn’t respond…

Indeed, after all, she’s a girl. Naming her with such names is really inappropriate!

A friend suggested the name “Cuihua” at this time. I tentatively called out, “Cuihua”. She immediately perked up her ears and turned to look at me, meowing, “Meow~”

Fine~ As long as you’re happy~ Cuihua it is!

May you be “as noble as jade and as bright as flowers”.
