Black Rice, My Adorable and Heartwarming Dragon Li – and – White Cat

Let the childhood photos of my cat, Black Rice, grace the top of this post! (Black Rice is a Dragon Li – and – White cat, not a pure Dragon Li cat)

When I was in high school, I was crazy about having a cat. I nagged my mom about it for three years, and finally, I got to raise one during my college years! (Since I’m studying at a local university in my hometown, I can often go home to pet the cat. Hahaha)

Black Rice was adopted from a local rescue organization. According to the volunteers at the organization, Black Rice and its littermates were found in a garbage bin. Five little kittens were wrapped in a plastic bag tied with a dead knot. Fortunately, the kittens had a strong will to survive and kept crying for help, so they were discovered. (They were only two – month – old kittens. How could someone be so cruel to throw them away? (๑ १д१)<)

Photos of Black Rice at the rescue station

Originally, I had my eye on a little orange cat at the rescue station, but all the orange cats were already reserved. So I ended up adopting Black Rice by chance. Looking back now, it’s all fate!

Black Rice’s Dragon Li cat genes are really something. It’s not afraid of strangers at all. Just after being brought home from the rescue station, it didn’t even need time to get familiar with the environment. It immediately started crunching on cat food, and it didn’t meow at night. It was so well – behaved.

Dragon Li cats are generally in good health and not prone to getting sick. Black Rice, who is now one – and – a – half years old, has only had a bit of gastroenteritis once. After taking it to the hospital to see a doctor and get medicine, it recovered in two or three days.

While being healthy, Comrade Black Rice is extremely naughty and smart.

One second it’s rubbing against my leg, acting cute, and the next second it’s biting my ankle like crazy (but it’s really just playing, and it controls the force well, so I’m hardly ever injured). When I try to teach it a lesson or spank it, it doesn’t work because it’s not afraid of me. It’s only afraid of my parents. T_T

It’s picky about food, loving shrimp and egg yolks. It won’t eat other cooked meat.

After trying Orijen cat food once, it didn’t like Go! cat food anymore. It can eat Orijen four or five times a day, but it only eats Go! when it’s hungry. So every time I change to Orijen, it gains weight. (I buy cat food from the official website, so there’s no problem with fakes.)

Whenever I’m unhappy about something or there’s a quarrel in the family, Black Rice will quietly observe us and then come over to rub against us to comfort us. It’s really warm.

In short, Dragon Li cats are super sensible, worry – free, and warm – hearted! If you want to raise a cat, go for a Dragon Li cat!
