The Story of a Stray Cat: From Fear to Trust

The Story of a Stray Cat: From Fear to Trust

Last summer, he occasionally showed up in the yard of our unit. He was very timid and would run away as soon as someone approached him.

Yes, it’s him, a male cat.

At first, we threw him some ham sausages and the leftover chicken bones from the cafeteria, and he ate them all up.

(He was caught rolling and acting cute while eating)

I’ll never forget what a cat looks like when it gobbles up food. It really seemed that he hadn’t eaten for a long time.

After searching on Baidu, I learned that cats shouldn’t be fed ham sausages, so I went to buy some cheap cat food.

At first, I was just trying it out, but later I found that he ate it just the same!

I was even worried that the cat food was too cheap and he wouldn’t like it.

Then, he brought a little follower to eat…

Well, as shown in the picture, I prepared two portions of cat food.

After that, they both became very clingy… rubbing against our trouser legs and meowing at me. And then…

Since the cat food was stored in the trunk, as soon as I opened the trunk, he would jump in…

He followed me wherever I went.

Later in winter, I made a box for him, hoping it could be his shelter, but he still didn’t live in it.

When it was Chinese New Year, the big cat disappeared, and only the small one came back, but its tail was gone.

(Actually, there was a piece of fish in front of him, but it was too hot, so he was waiting for it to cool down)

Anyway, he survived. I gave him some anti-inflammatory medicine. The seniors at the unit said that his tail might have been caught in a weasel trap and the big cat might have died because of this. I hope there is no hunger and pain in heaven.

When feeding stray cats in the city, I came across several kittens. They were very timid and didn’t dare to get close, so I only took a few pictures from a distance.

Recently, his belly has become really big. We all thought we had been mistaken and thought he was a female. Later, we took photos and videos and showed them to the young lady at the cat cattery and the doctor at the pet hospital. It was confirmed that he was a male.

(Looking at his eyes, it seemed as if he was saying: Where are you taking the picture?)

(Still taking pictures!)

————Update on November 13, 2018————

I hadn’t seen him for two days, and when he showed up today, his eye was injured. (The following content may be disturbing, please be prepared)

I guess he got into a fight. Maybe he had been lying somewhere else to recover these two days.

I contacted a familiar pet doctor. He was very nice and willing to perform the surgery.

Then I borrowed a large cage from a colleague who has a dog, put food in it to trap him, and laid a mat in the cage. The mat was bought for him. I was afraid that if he was really a female cat and had kittens, it could be used as a nest.

He was very quiet in the car. At first, he meowed as if asking where we were going. Three minutes later, he stopped meowing and lay quietly on the mat. I was even worried that he would keep scratching the cage.

I’ve already sent him to the doctor and will keep updating his situation.

————11.15 Update————

The surgery went smoothly.

————The dividing line that almost became a pit————

I’ve been really busy. Here’s a simple update on his recent situation.

He really likes the new nest I bought and even does the kneading behavior.

(What are you looking at? It’s mine!)

(A classmate gave a dog bed, but he probably doesn’t like it and doesn’t stay there often)

(After the surgery, he was very excited when he returned to the familiar yard)
