My “Big Boss” Cat: A Spirited and Special Tabby

My “Big Boss” Cat: A Spirited and Special Tabby

The eldest one isn’t a very purebred tabby cat. Because it doesn’t have tiger stripes all over its body, and its ears are too big, just like fox ears. Its body, neck, paws and feet are all slender, making the whole cat look very delicate, not as stocky-headed as a typical tabby cat. Moreover, the eldest one didn’t have chubby cheeks before. It was only after feeding it homemade cat food for a long time that it achieved the effect shown in the above picture.

The big boss’s lying posture.

But the eldest one’s personality is very much like that of a tabby cat. It can do everything, climbing over eaves and running on walls. There’s nowhere it doesn’t dare to go, from the roof to the bottom of the cabinet. Its hunting ability is first-class. When it comes to grabbing toys and food, other cats can only stand aside. If your hand speed isn’t fast enough, the cat teaser will be snatched away by it in seconds. It’s as mighty as a small cheetah.

It’s also very headstrong and difficult to discipline. In my family, there are rules that cats aren’t allowed to enter the kitchen, get on the dining table or go into the toilet. Other cats basically remember these rules after being scolded or even hit once or twice. But the eldest one just doesn’t listen. The more you try to control it, the more energetic it becomes. Finally, once when it entered the kitchen, its paw was crushed by the glass plate on the ceiling.

We spent a lot of money sending it to the vet, and now it has healed. Although it doesn’t affect its ability to climb over eaves and run on walls, it still left a sequela in the end and became a lame cat.

The treatment of its paw was a turning point in our relationship. Before, it was just staying in my house for food. When I educated it about what not to do, it simply didn’t listen. After its paw was broken, it probably could sense that I was truly treating its illness and being nice to it, so it has become more and more clingy.

Generally speaking, the spirit of tabby cats is different from that of other cats. Their eyes are lively, they are brave and active, and they do everything neatly and quickly. Although they aren’t as gentle, affectionate and easy to discipline as other cat breeds, it’s precisely their aloofness and difficulty in being disciplined that is the charm of cats. If they were all so obedient, affectionate and easy to discipline, what would be the difference from dogs?

The eldest one was the first cat in my house. Later, I gradually adopted several more cats. They all have different personalities and are all cute. There are also some cats of other breeds. But I still admire and love the eldest one the most.
