Lili is a Dragon Li cat raised by my brother. When I lived at my brother’s place for a while, I was her secondary owner.
I really liked Lili. I always wanted to achieve the feat of being able to freely pet the cat every day and have Lili snuggle up in my arms. But Lili was raised by my brother to be independent and aloof. She wouldn’t be affectionate unless she took the initiative. Every time I wanted to kiss her or touch her, she would just respond perfunctorily, only allowing a touch or two, and especially wouldn’t let me hold her.
During the summer vacation, when my sister-in-law and brother were having their alone time, I took Lili away.
And then! During the half month that I lived with Lili, this cat was extremely gentle. She let me touch her, hold her and kiss her. Every day when I got home from work, she would come running over from the bed, meowing to greet me. It made me feel really gratified for a while, as if I had finally warmed up the cold shoulder! I treated her even better, talking to her and playing with her every day when I got home.

…This state continued until I took her back to my brother’s house. Once we got back, she immediately changed her attitude, as if the gentle, cute and clingy cat from the previous day belonged to someone else’s family. Now she was back to her old indifferent state.
It shocked me! What a scheming cat!
Another time, a Golden Retriever of a friend was fostered at my place for three days. I really like dogs, so I was very enthusiastic about Dajin. And the dog’s response was obvious too. It would wag its tail, ask for hugs and let me pet it. Oh, it was so warm.
Lili saw this scene. So, the green-tea cat spirit possessed her again.
She called me with a meow that was obviously different from before, with a thin and small voice mixed with a sense of grievance, and then ran obediently into my arms. Sure enough, this trick worked really well. My heart melted at once, and I told her that she was still my big baby in my heart and that she didn’t need to worry. Sure enough, during those few days, Lili was extremely well-behaved. After the Golden Retriever left, she became her old self again.
Hehe.
