My Grandfather's Adorable and Capable Dragon Li Cat

My Grandfather’s Adorable and Capable Dragon Li Cat

My grandfather used to raise a Dragon Li cat at home, a yellowish one, commonly known as an orange cat. It’s been so long that I don’t have any photos of it anymore.

Usually, it was a well-behaved baby. Especially when my grandfather took a nap on the couch, it would go over and lie down beside him. One person and one cat would take a nap together. It was expert at acting cute and kneading.

However, when it came to hunting, it was a completely different story!

It caught countless mice. There was even one time on New Year’s Eve when my grandmother said the family was about to start having the New Year’s Eve dinner. The cat carried a big mouse into the dining room, as if ready to have dinner together. My grandmother said, “It’s so dirty. Go outside to eat.” Sure enough, the cat picked up the mouse and went to the living room. After finishing the mouse, it came back to the dining room to beg for food.

Of course, if this cat could only catch mice, it wouldn’t be worth mentioning at all. After all, there aren’t many cats that don’t do their proper jobs. (Cola: Who are you calling not doing their proper jobs?)

This cat once caught a pheasant!

That was a flying pheasant!

At that time, my grandfather was working in the vegetable garden in front of the yard. The cat came over with a pheasant in its mouth and gave it to my grandfather. My grandfather took it and let it fly away. But the cat jumped up and caught it precisely again and gave it back to my grandfather.

Probably thinking that my grandfather hadn’t caught it properly.

When my grandfather told me about this, I was so scared that I quickly went to Baidu to search “Do pet owners need to go to jail if their pets catch protected animals?”

Fortunately, in this case, it’s not necessary.

But even a cat like this had its off days.

Once when I went back to my hometown, I saw the cat lying lazily in the yard, basking in the sun. I asked my grandmother, “Why has this cat gotten so fat?”

My grandmother said with a laugh, “This cat doesn’t even eat the nice fish and rice mix or the cat food (my cousin used to send cat food to our hometown regularly). Recently, it has been stealing chicken feed every day. The fatter it gets, the lazier it moves, and the lazier it is, the fatter it gets.”

During the time when it got fat, its fighting ability obviously decreased a lot, and it no longer caught mice.
