My 'Useless' but Lovable Dragon Li Cat, Huahua

My ‘Useless’ but Lovable Dragon Li Cat, Huahua

I, a cat owner who has a seemingly ‘useless’ Dragon Li cat, feel a bit ashamed.

My Huahua should also be considered a Dragon Li cat. Here’s a picture as proof:

It’s just that its fighting ability is really weak, so it never stirs up trouble. It only got a false reputation in the ‘cat world’ thanks to its size.

It’s very big, extremely big. Its weight used to be close to 20 pounds. With my efforts, it’s now stabilized at 17 pounds. The length from its head to the base of its tail is 56 centimeters. When its fur bristles, it looks even bigger. Its tail is thick, and when all the fur stands up, it looks like a squirrel’s tail, which can instantly double its volume.

My husband is 1.8 meters tall, and Huahua still looks huge in his arms.

By using deception and bluffing, Huahua has successfully scared away a Golden Retriever, a local dog, and several yappy Teddy dogs. Its record against other cats is unknown because the only cat it has fought with is Pi Dan.

Saying it ‘fought’ isn’t accurate. It should be that Pi Dan provoked it and got beaten instead.

Pi Dan is the original resident cat, and Huahua came later. In the beginning, Pi Dan was jealous that Huahua stole my attention and wanted to drive it away. But because I protected Huahua, Pi Dan didn’t dare to bully it openly. So, it always fought with Huahua secretly after we went to sleep.

However, besides being big, Huahua has an even bigger heart. Usually, it just ignores Pi Dan. Its fighting spirit isn’t just weak; it hardly exists.

I would wake up in the middle of the night when I heard Pi Dan crying pitifully and intervene. I always saw Pi Dan biting Huahua’s neck, back, and hind legs… biting and shouting loudly. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I would have thought Pi Dan was the one getting beaten.

Huahua, being bitten, could stay as still as a mountain and just bury its head in eating. Only when Pi Dan bit near its ears and affected its eating would it turn its head and bite back a little, showing its teeth in protest.

I guess it’s because its subcutaneous fat is too thick. Pi Dan can’t bite its vital parts, and it doesn’t feel the pain either.

When the two cats really fight, Huahua is also careless. It can win only because of its size. Although Pi Dan is the same length as it, the weight difference is huge. Pi Dan has lost from the start.

So, are Dragon Li cats good fighters? It depends on the cat. If my Huahua doesn’t scare the enemy away at the first moment, it’s probably going to get beaten badly.

But Huahua is definitely a great eater. I’m confident about that. Come and challenge it if you don’t believe it!
