The Story of Elvis (4)

The rat hadn’t run far.

It grabbed it with one paw, then held it in its mouth, ran a few steps, threw it into the dam, and teased it with its paw.

This happened several times.

I saw that the rat’s belly was broken.

Red and white fluid was flowing out.

It must be dead.

The tabby cat then lay down beside it and began to take a nap.

My cousin said that it was waiting for my grandfather to come and praise it.

I believe this statement.

Because this tabby cat caught another rat a few days later. After catching it, it didn’t eat it first, but threw the rat at our feet to show us how cunning rats are. Finally,

it slapped and bit the rat to death.

I was very surprised.

I didn’t expect the tabby cat to be so powerful. My cousin

said that meat rats are the smartest and can understand human language, so the tabby cat will deal with meat rats first, and other gray rats are the easiest to catch.

I was half-believing and half-doubting this.

In the next few days, the tabby cat taught me a lesson.

It was cunning, agile and fast.

None of those gray mice were a match for the tabby cat.

It caught four big mice in one day, put them outside, and proudly showed them off to my grandfather.

My grandfather would praise it and feed it pork liver.

During that time, there were really no mice in the house.

But the good times didn’t last long.

This little tabby suddenly disappeared for a while.

The family searched for a long time.

My grandfather went out to look for it, but couldn’t find it.

My cousin and I thought it might have been poisoned to death.

During that time, I was quite sad.

The disappearance of the little tabby also caused the old house to be flooded with mice.

There are many mice in the countryside, and their noses are very sharp.

They can smell the aroma of meat from far away.

We were also very worried about smoking bacon at home. We used rat poison and mouse traps, but with little effect.

As a result, one day. I saw a rat snake entrenched

outside the corner of the old house. It was autumn, but still very hot. This rat snake had a strong stench. It was not afraid of people. It coiled in the corner and slowly crawled into the house. I was ready to drive it away. Ga Gong said, “Don’t panic, rat snakes eat mice.” Only then did I know that rat snakes also eat mice. Because there was too much bacon in the old house, more than a thousand pounds, and I was afraid that it would be stolen. Ga Gong arranged for me and my cousin to take turns living in the old house to guard the bacon. That night, there were indeed fewer mice. But I always felt a little rusty, worried that the rat snake would climb onto my bed, and also worried that the meat rat would gnaw my feet. 15 I was half asleep. Suddenly I heard a strange sound. It was the kind of creaking, like grinding teeth. I squinted and looked. I was shocked to find that there was a mouse with slightly white hair on the top of the beam.

The mouse looked very old. It was very cautious, holding the beam with two claws, and secretly looking down there. I turned my head and found that my little tabby cat had returned! It was sleeping not far away. I realized that the little tabby cat was pregnant, and her belly was round. I looked up and saw that the old gray-haired mouse was gone. It was probably here to check the place. I was overjoyed and got up to get some food for the little tabby cat. The little tabby cat was actually not very big, at most seven or eight months old, and was still a kitten, but she became a mother. I gave it some smoked pork liver and it started chewing.
