Beating cats is not a goal but a means. The goal is education.
In the education of cats, beating is the means with the worst effect and the greatest side effects. But it is very convenient to implement, there is no technical content, and it can also release the owner’s negative emotions, which is the first choice of some pet owners.
Just like many parents who are not doing well outside, when they come home and see their children’s problems, they are incompetent and furious, and beating and scolding their children becomes their first choice for education, and it is also a punching bag for them to release their emotions.
If you know a better way, why use such a means that hurts feelings?
Humans have domesticated cats for too short a time, and cats are far less able to understand human intentions than dogs. Their walnut-sized brains cannot figure out why they are beaten. At the same time,
cats are solitary animals. In their world, they do not need a leader, do not need to listen to anyone’s arrangements, and decide everything by themselves, so cats are not obedient. Cats
are also very timid and cautious animals with a very high sense of safety. It is difficult for them to establish a connection between their behavior and being beaten. They will only feel that this place is no longer safe and their owners are fickle and dangerous. If they are hurt here, they must be more vigilant and ready to escape at any time.

So it’s not that you can’t hit a cat, but it’s a combination of pros and cons. Hitting a cat is the last resort after other educational methods fail because of its low “cost-effectiveness”.
There are four steps to correct a cat’s wrong behavior:
1. Find the underlying cause.
For example, is peeing on the carpet due to urinary tract disease? Is pushing the cup off the table to attract the owner’s attention? Is rummaging through the trash can because you want to find food? Find the cause and then solve it.
2. Find out what the cat can get from this behavior.
Is it the owner’s attention, food, or fun?
3. Give the cat another choice to get the same benefit.
For example, if the cat scratches and chews the wire because it wants to grind its teeth, you can provide a grinding stick; if the cat always scratches the ankle because it wants to play, provide some moving toys.
4. If the cat does it right, give it a reward.
Using these four steps, you can correct many problems with as little punishment as possible, if you are willing to really understand the cat.
Hitting a cat may temporarily stop the cat’s behavioral problems, but that just makes the cat afraid of you, and it will stop doing it in front of you, and it will do what it should do when you are not around.
The consequence is that the cat will be wary of you. Although it will flatter you for the sake of stuttering, it is difficult for it to trust you again. Do you want a carefree, open-minded cat, or a cautious cat that is ready to escape at any time?
Compared with cats, humans have an absolute advantage and can crush them. Not abusing power against the weak is the dignity of the strong.
Killing or forgiving is the grace of the king, and it is your right. Properly restraining yourself from exercising the right to kill is a higher level of strength.
