Raising a Ragdoll cat is a painful and joyful thing.
I also started raising a Ragdoll cat recently. I did a lot of homework before raising it. I was entangled for a long time because I heard that it is easy to have loose stools. But because I really like it!! So I still raised it.
Because it was my first time to raise a cat and I was afraid that I would not be able to raise a kitten well, I directly bought a stud male retired from a cattery. It was more than two years old, with complete vaccination chips and five-generation certificates, and it was sterilized. All troubles were solved with one click. It even won several championships in Yorkshire regional competitions. I fell in love with it at first sight when I saw the photo. It was like this⬇️
From the photos of the competition, it looked so lush and hairy that I felt sorry for it. Although I was a little worried that I would not be able to raise it well, I was still crazy about it. A few days later, I hired a car to take him home for five hours.
When I first saw him, I wondered why the cat’s head was so small. It was so delicate and beautiful that I didn’t dare to touch it. It was the breeder who helped me put him in the cage (I tried to carry him in, but I couldn’t hold him in one hand at 10 pounds.
On the way back, he looked super sad and cried almost all the time. My heart was broken because he sounded so pitiful. I was worried that the light outside would scare him, so I even covered the transparent side with a down jacket.

Because I heard that you shouldn’t force contact with cats if you just brought them home, so I opened the cage and took out the cat fountain and turned it on, and put some cat food next to it, which was the same as the breeder said he had eaten before. As soon as I put down the bowl, the little guy started to eat, which was completely different from the legendary cat. It seemed that the cat didn’t eat for a day or two in the new home. It ate happily and didn’t resist when I touched it gently. But after eating, it huddled in the corner of the door and looked very autistic. I didn’t disturb it and went back to its room.
The next day, I didn’t see the cat at all in the bedroom. When I went downstairs, I found that the cat had
crawled under the sofa in the living room. Although I knew it was normal, I still felt a little sad, so I asked a sister who raised cats for help. She suggested that I put the cat in the bedroom to cultivate the relationship, because her cat climbed into the bed on the first day (not. I was encouraged to catch the cat in the bedroom and tried to ignore him. Sure enough, we became much closer!! I would like to thank my sister for a thousand words here.
After getting on the right track, I felt that raising a ragdoll is really a painful and happy thing.
I feel that his stomach should be considered strong among ragdolls, But his butt would still get stuck with shit sometimes and rub against the bed QAQ. Later, we could only catch him and check his butt whenever he came out of the litter box, but most of the time it was fine.
The second troublesome thing is hair shedding, but to be fair, the ragdoll’s hair shedding is nothing like that of the short-haired blue-gold tabby. I went to sleep at my sister’s house before, and it felt like my breath was full of cat hair, but with the ragdoll, I only had cat hair in my mouth occasionally.
Also, although he is an adult, he is still skinny. Please enjoy his heroic posture stuck in the curtains.
But the sense of happiness that the ragdoll brings to people is just too! High!!!!
The first is the clinginess that many of you have mentioned in the answers. Let me show you the scene of the sissy being a bitch.
The little guy stepped on my breasts for no reason in the middle of the night, and I reached out to touch him. When I touch his head, he falls directly into my hand and then steps on it. Recently, I have fallen in love with touching noses with him. After a few times, he will now take the initiative to touch noses with me.
Tenderness is also a huge advantage of ragdolls! They don’t resist much when being hugged. The big, fluffy and heavy cat lets you hug them without resistance! I am moved! They are simply real ragdolls. And the fur of the ragdoll is really good to rub. The fur on the belly is as soft as clouds, the fur on the limbs is thick and dense, and the short fur on the nose is hard. I can achieve n kinds of touches at once. I love it.
Every time I rub him, I can’t help but open cans for him like rewarding the anchor. I carry boxes of dry food, canned snacks and toys home. I am really tempted by the beauty. The jellycat snow dragon I bought before has also become a cat toy.
