How to prepare rice for golden retrievers

I have been studying homemade dog food recently. After several adjustments, I can basically control the preparation time of dog food to about fifteen minutes. I make it for him when I make lunch. Two dogs weighing 100 kilograms in total cost about 10-20 yuan a day. A big donkey weighing 60 kilograms costs about 10 yuan. This article will start with the logic of dog food. If you are anxious to see how to prepare rice, you can scroll to the end.

1. Are dogs omnivores or carnivores?

The main difference between wolves and dogs is whether they have a cecum and the number of types of digestive enzymes. The cecum of herbivores is the home of intestinal bacteria. Dogs have a cecum, which is also considered one of the evidences that dogs are omnivores.

However, although dogs have a cecum, they only have a small amount of amylase in their pancreas, which leads to the fact that dogs can digest carbohydrates, but are not good at digesting carbohydrates.

On the whole, if you want to make homemade dog food, it is best to use meat and vegetables as the main ingredients. Therefore, it is not appropriate to mix dog food with rice. It is better to make some dog food for him and freeze it, or eat it as you cook, which is not too troublesome.

2. Dog food configuration logic

1. Protein

Protein is divided into animal protein and plant protein. Animal protein is rich in essential amino acids that cannot be produced in the body. If the protein reserve is insufficient, it is easy to cause a low immune system, that is, it is more susceptible to skin diseases, or it is more susceptible to diarrhea and parasites.

Dog food can be used, **chicken, fish, eggs, cheese, yogurt**, etc.

For cost considerations, I usually use chicken or longli fish as a protein base, the cost is about 6 yuan/jin, or buy meat scraps and fish scraps on Taobao.

There is a 1.8L family yogurt in the north, which is only 9.9 yuan. Every time I buy it, I can’t finish it. Later, I found that the two dogs drank it very well. If there is a similar yogurt, or there is a yogurt that is about to expire, it is a good supplement for the dog.

2. Fat

Fat is mainly for energy and inflammation. At the same time, it can also help absorb fat-soluble vitamins. If the fat supply is insufficient, it is also easy to cause skin diseases and low immunity in dogs. However, many dogs are currently overweight and cannot consume excessive fat.

I usually use salmon scraps to boil fish oil, or buy finished fish oil directly, or I am lazy and pour him some sesame oil, grape seed oil, etc.

3. Carbohydrates

As mentioned earlier, excessive intake of carbohydrates will increase the burden on the pancreas. However, this is not a one-size-fits-all thing. Generally speaking, **puppies and elderly dogs should try to reduce their intake of carbohydrates, and adult dogs with a lot of exercise can increase their intake of carbohydrates appropriately**.

In terms of carbohydrates, in order to stock up, I stocked up a lot of sweet potatoes when everyone was stocking up on cabbage. Basically, my dog’s carbohydrate source is sweet potatoes. Of course, for convenience, rice can also be used.

4. Vitamins and minerals

When talking about fats, it was mentioned that some fat-soluble vitamins need to rely on fat. In addition, there are water-soluble vitamins.

Different vitamins have different functions. You can put them according to the situation. For example, chicken, wheat, and chicken liver are rich in vitamin B1, beef liver, celery, and dairy products are rich in vitamin B2, etc. Generally, they are free to play and will not be strictly restricted.

Minerals are distributed more, and there is no need to be too deliberate. For example, fish are rich in calcium, soybeans are rich in phosphorus, and so on.

3. How to add water to dog food

1. Dogs drink too much water

, their paws are wet, they feel a little edematous, or their bodies are cold (touch the area under the armpits of the dog’s hind legs, which should generally be higher than the human body temperature. If it doesn’t feel good, it may be that the dog is cold), especially dogs with cold tail tips, most of them drink a lot of water.

These dogs will also lack interest in everything, have a poor appetite, and have stomach upset from time to time.

In this case, you can add some diuretic ingredients such as winter melon, cabbage, and pork liver to the dog food, and don’t add too much water to the dog food.

2. Dogs drink too little water .

For example, my big donkey, which is out of breath after running a few steps and has a very dry body, is mostly dehydrated.

Especially dogs with good appetite, excited when going out, difficult to calm down when seeing dogs fighting, and dry poop, are generally dehydrated.

In this case, adding some yam and okra is OK, and the dog food can also be made thinner.

3. In addition to adding water, you can also add some “soup” to the dog food.

My family usually makes two kinds of soup for dog food. One is to boil water with clams or kelp. After blanching, I eat kelp and clams. Another is to blanch chicken soup. Of course, if you want to leave soup for the dog, the blanching time will be slightly longer, and the taste of meat will be worse than normal when people eat it.

4. How to make dog food according to weight Take

the big donkey as an example. The big donkey is a normal 60-jin adult dog.

He should normally consume about 550g of meat, about 1.8L of water (he drinks less water, so he should be given more water or soup), and vegetables. My family gives whatever we have at home. Just check if it can be fed to dogs, but it is generally not more than twice the meat, that is, no more than 1100g, and carbohydrates are no more than half of the meat, that is, no more than 275g. Sometimes you don’t have to add it every time if you are lazy.

Elderly dogs and dogs who often run in circles can add or subtract 20% by themselves.

If the dog is constipated after changing the dog food, you can reduce the dietary fiber and prolong the heating time of the ingredients. If the dog has diarrhea after changing the dog food, you can try to reduce the amount of vegetables.

Generally, I cook dog food in two ways. One is to prepare it in advance, steam the dog rice balls and freeze them in the freezer, in case I don’t want to cook at some point. If I cook for myself normally, I will just wash more vegetables and cook some rice for him.
