In the world of pets, every little animal is a unique treasure in the hearts of their owners. With their distinctive personalities and adorable appearances, they add countless joys and warmth to our lives. My Siamese cat, Baojie, has become the most special presence in my life with her unique growth journey.
I still remember the first time I met Baojie. Her snow-white fur was as pure as the first snow in winter, and her pair of deep blue eyes were like two sapphires embedded in her face, exuding a charming luster. The photos taken in Hangzhou at that time showed her astonishing whiteness. When my friends saw them, they couldn’t resist setting her cute photos as their avatars. There was one photo that captured her moment of quiet gazing. The picture was full of poetry and artistic conception, as if time stood still for her. When I took a casual photo with my dad’s phone during the Spring Festival, she still looked incredibly beautiful without any editing, especially those vivid blue eyes that seemed to see through everything. When I took Baojie and Dapi to meet friends during the May Day holiday, she was as white as snow in the photos, showing her elegant temperament.

However, time seems to have a special “preference” for Baojie. I’m not sure when it started, but she began her “darkening” journey. During the days she spent with her little brother Pika, the change in her fur color was already noticeable in the photos. Her once fair skin was gradually replaced by a darker shade, and she seemed to turn into a “little coal ball” overnight, which made me burst out laughing. Last Christmas, I put small bow ties on her and Pika. It was supposed to be a warm and lovely scene, but Baojie’s darkening fur added a touch of humor. Watching her lazily lying on the ground with her brother, Dapi somehow had the air of a big shot, while Baojie doted on her playful little brother. The scene was both heartwarming and funny.
Now, when I look at Baojie’s current photos, I can only sigh helplessly. Her once clear and delicate facial features are almost indistinguishable under the “encirclement” of her dark fur, and her whole face seems to blend into one dark mass. For Siamese cats, darkening may be normal, but losing her image so completely still makes me laugh and cry. I can even predict that she has the potential to continue “darkening.” I really don’t know what she will look like in the future. Every time I look at her, I can’t help but hum, “Ah ah ah~ Black Cat Sheriff! Ah ah ah~ Black Cat Sheriff!” Although I tease her, my heart is filled with love for her.
In addition to the change in her fur color, Baojie’s daily life is full of fun, leaving many hilarious moments. She is always curious about my every move. Even when I go to the bathroom, she desperately scratches the door outside, eager to find out what’s going on. Her strange sleeping postures, sometimes stretching her limbs, sometimes curling up into a ball, can make anyone laugh out loud. The way she looks at me, sometimes full of confusion, sometimes with a “royal disdain,” as if questioning whether I’m a qualified owner. She has loved nibbling on her little paws since she was a kitten. Her devoted and enjoyable look is both endearing and helpless. These cute and funny moments, when captured, are perfect materials for memes. Looking at these photos, I often can’t help but think that I’m probably Baojie’s biggest “hater.”
Although Baojie’s “darkening” sometimes makes me feel a little “pity,” it brings me endless joy and surprises. Every change and every moment of hers has become the most precious memories in my life. In my heart, no matter what she looks like, she will always be my beloved Baojie, the “dark-skinned, beautiful, and long-legged” cat, the one and only, irreplaceable treasure.
