The Charming Transformation of Meilan: A Siamese Cat’s Story

Located in Hangzhou, the joy of raising a Siamese cat lies in watching it gradually “darken” over time. When my cat Meilan first came to my home, it was a delicate and handsome little cat. Its features were distinct, with a clear – eyed and sharply contrasting appearance. There was even a period when it reached the peak of its beauty. At that time, it was like a charming little prince, though its face had already started to darken slightly.

As time went by, the darkening of its fur spread rapidly from the nose to the surrounding areas. Eventually, due to the passage of time, it transformed into a rather “funny – looking coal boss”.

June 11th: I’m really surprised that so many people have read my casual answer! I’m both flattered and delighted to see so many people loving (and mercilessly teasing) Meilan. Some people decided to raise a Siamese cat after reading my answer. I must say, they have good taste, and they definitely won’t regret it. But there are also those who were discouraged by the last picture. Don’t be in a hurry! I must share some photos to clear up Meilan’s appearance.

June 28th: It’s another sweltering day today. Here’s an updated photo of Meilan’s darkened look. Raising a Siamese cat is full of fun. This answer can serve as a record of its darkening history for everyone’s amusement.

July 21st: Here’s the “greasy” Meilan.

July 31st: I found a “black bear” in the shoe box. I’m trying my best to find traces of its former handsomeness on its face. Want to share the air – conditioning? But be aware, it might get darker.

Here’s a funny story. Last week, I laid Meilan on my lap with its belly facing up and found that its “double – row buttons” (nipples) were crooked. I couldn’t stop laughing when I discovered this new “secret”.

September 2nd: Intermittently updating Meilan’s daily life! Recently, Meilan has gained more weight. You can tell from the photos how plump it has become. I hope all cat lovers like these updates! Thanks!

October 1st: Happy National Day and Mid – Autumn Festival! Meilan’s handsome appearance has made a comeback recently, so I’m updating to let everyone know!

November 8th: Meilan is extremely clingy! It wishes it could be attached to the soles of my feet and act as a 24 – hour monitor. It loves it when I do nothing but hold it, praise it, pet it, and talk to it. Even if I move my foot a little, it will “complain” for a long time and meow at me non – stop. Siamese cats have strong emotional needs. We should not only pay attention to their physical health but also their mental well – being.

Some time ago, because I accompanied it less and my boyfriend was on a business trip, Meilan became very restless. Its mood fluctuated greatly, it ate less, and kept meowing at me as if scolding me for not spending enough time with it. Even when I offered it delicious food, it remained indifferent. I was so worried that I took it to the hospital for a full – body check – up, spending 800 yuan, but the results showed nothing abnormal. My boyfriend said it might be missing him. Fortunately, it has started eating normally these days. It seems that spending some money was worth it! I can’t wait to go home after work to take care of my precious cat. There are no difficult jobs for dedicated cat owners, only brave litter – box cleaners!

November 23rd: Let Meilan make a brief appearance.

June 6th, 2021: In the blink of an eye, it’s midsummer, but Meilan shows no sign of lightening its fur. There’s cat fur flying everywhere at home. I love this little guy so much that I have to “cuddle” it every day. It’s so cute and clingy. Here’s a selfie of Meilan.

June 18th, 2021: Playing with the new catnip toy bought by its “dad”.

October 9th, 2021: One of Meilan’s two proud “charming big teeth” broke off (the part outside the mouth) at some point, leaving only half of it inside the mouth. I was sad for several days, but it seemed not to care at all and went on eating and drinking as usual. What a sigh!
