My Chaotic and Lovely Life with My Siamese Cat, Zha Zha

My Chaotic and Lovely Life with My Siamese Cat, Zha Zha

Today, I can finally say with great pride: I finally have a cat! And not just any cat, but a magnificent show – quality Siamese. Born on September 23rd, she has been a part of our family for half a month now.

When I first picked her up, she was so tiny and skinny that I could hold her in one hand. It was cold outside, so I tucked her inside my coat and carried her upstairs. At that time, she was incredibly well – behaved and showed no signs of fear. I covered her with a blanket and placed her in the bed, and she promptly fell into a deep slumber.

However, as the days passed, her true nature began to reveal itself. She turned out to be extremely energetic and mischievous. I even thought about giving her a little “lesson” when she got too rowdy. She has an insatiable appetite. Whenever she’s hungry, she lets out a long, drawn – out “meow” in various tones, as if she’s singing a special “hunger song” to let the whole family know.

Another funny thing about her is that when she needs to use the litter box, she makes sure to inform the entire household. She meows loudly until we follow her. But once we’re there, she meows even louder, as if to say, “Don’t look! Give me some privacy!” And only when we turn away does she finally start doing her business. At first, I thought her voice was hoarse because of how she “meows,” but I soon realized that this was just her unique way of communicating. She doesn’t really meow in the traditional sense.

She has a strange but endearing habit of being overly concerned about me when I go to the bathroom. She seems to worry that I might drown in there. On December 12th, it was her turn to get her second vaccination. Coincidentally, I was scheduled to get my second HPV vaccine on December 14th.

Since Zha Zha came into our lives, I’ve realized that the idyllic picture of a docile, well – behaved cat from fairytales is far from the truth. She can be really annoying, in a way that’s hard to put into words. For example, she always walks by rubbing against my feet. One day, I accidentally kicked her by mistake, and she let out the most heart – rending “meow” I’ve ever heard in her life.

Two weeks have passed, and I’ve noticed that she has grown a lot. Despite her growth, she still loves to sleep under the covers. Whenever I move in the bed, she meows in complaint, as if telling me to stay still. Every morning, I wake up to find her lying in my arms, with her head on the pillow, covered by the blanket. It gives me a sense of protectiveness, like I’m a strong caregiver.

But make no mistake, she still often makes me want to scold her. She loves to “type” on my computer. She spins around on the keyboard, and one day, she even managed to “type” out “Right, Everywhere.” I couldn’t help but feel a bit mocked by her “message.”

I’m new to using Zhihu, and I’m not sure why I can’t post multiple pictures. Well, I’ll share more about her next time. Even though Zha Zha can be a handful and extremely annoying at times, she is still the little angel of our family. She has brought so much chaos, but also an abundance of joy and laughter. I look forward to seeing how she grows and changes, and I know that every day with her will be a new adventure.
