Fuxiu, our beloved Siamese cat, has always been full of surprises, and just when we thought we had seen it all, it threw us another curveball. A week before I started writing this, this mischievous yet endearing feline gave us a heart – stopping scare that we won’t soon forget.
It all happened when my mother was taking a short break from sewing buttons. In that brief moment, Fuxiu, with its insatiable curiosity, decided to investigate. To our horror, it not only ate the thread but also swallowed a long needle that was lying nearby. When we first realized what had happened, panic set in. I immediately turned to the internet, frantically searching for solutions. The information I found was alarming, and it seemed as though poor Fuxiu might have to undergo a risky surgery to remove the needle. The thought of our dear cat having to endure such a procedure was unbearable.

However, we refused to lose hope. Since Fuxiu was already seven years old, the veterinarian advised us to first try and let it pass the needle naturally. They suggested a rather unconventional method – to cut cooked leeks into two – centimeter segments and mix them with Fuxiu’s favorite treats, the Meow Mix. Desperate to help our furry friend, I prepared large portions of this special mixture and fed it to Fuxiu. The next two days were filled with anxiety. We watched Fuxiu closely, hoping and praying that the needle would be expelled without complications.
Finally, on the third day, our prayers were answered. As I was cleaning the litter box, I noticed something shiny. To my immense relief and joy, it was the needle! I had never been so happy to sift through cat feces in my life. It was a moment of pure elation, and I couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time. This incident served as a powerful reminder to all pet owners, especially cat lovers, to always keep small, dangerous objects like needles and threads out of their pets’ reach. Many cats have unfortunately lost their lives due to similar accidents, and we were extremely lucky that Fuxiu managed to pull through.
Over the years, Fuxiu has truly been through a lot. It has not only overcome health challenges but has also played a significant role in shaping my life. It was because of Fuxiu that I met my significant other, and together, we have built a life filled with love and laughter. Fuxiu has seen me through various phases of life, and its presence has taught me valuable lessons about responsibility, patience, and unconditional love. It has been a constant source of comfort and joy, and I am truly grateful for every moment we have shared.
In addition to Fuxiu, our home is filled with other wonderful furry friends. There’s Niuniu, the Cocker Spaniel, who always manages to assert its dominance and bring a sense of playfulness to the household. Then there’s Xiaowu, the Husky, whose goofy antics and boundless energy keep us entertained. And let’s not forget about Dahuang, the stray dog we rescued. Each of these pets has its own unique personality and story, and together, they have formed a loving and harmonious pet family.
We also once rescued an Alaskan Malamute. Although it now lives in our hometown, enjoying the vast open spaces of a big yard, it will always hold a special place in our hearts. These pets have not only brought us joy but have also taught us the importance of compassion and kindness towards all living beings.
As I reflect on our journey with Fuxiu and the rest of our pet family, I realize that raising a Siamese cat, or any pet for that matter, is an experience like no other. It brings with it a sense of adventure, love, and responsibility that enriches our lives in ways we never thought possible. Fuxiu has truly made my life extraordinary, and I look forward to many more years of creating beautiful memories with it and our other furry companions. May they all live long, healthy, and happy lives.
