Fuxiu: The Siamese Cat That Changed My Life

Fuxiu: The Siamese Cat That Changed My Life

Fuxiu, my beloved Siamese cat, came into my life when he was two years old. Now, five years have passed, and he is already seven. Little did I know that this furry friend would not only become an important part of my family but also play a significant role in shaping my personal life.

It was because of Fuxiu that I met my boyfriend. We have been together for five years now and are planning to get married next year. His presence in my life led to a series of changes in my family as well. Thanks to Fuxiu, we have since adopted a Husky, a Cocker Spaniel, a stray dog, and a small local dog. Moreover, my family members have become much more compassionate towards animals. Whenever we see a stray animal, we feel a deep sense of pity.

So, when you ask me what it’s like to raise a Siamese cat, let me share my story in detail. Fuxiu is an independent and proud cat. According to my boyfriend, he was abused when he was a kitten. He was locked in a basement all day long, without seeing the sunlight. My boyfriend adopted him through a friend. However, after raising him for half a year, his family didn’t allow pets anymore (I can understand families that don’t like animals). So, he posted on the local forum, hoping to find a reliable family to take care of Fuxiu for the rest of his life. Coincidentally, I happened to visit the local forum as well.

At that time, I really wanted to adopt a Samoyed and was looking for one everywhere. (My boyfriend later said that when he saw my post about looking for a Samoyed, he thought I seemed a bit unreliable.) Suddenly, I noticed his post. In the post, Fuxiu had big, blue eyes, staring into the distance with great spirit. I added my boyfriend’s QQ and inquired about adopting Fuxiu. My politeness and sincere promise impressed him. He later told me that it was because of a sentence I said to him: “Well, let me show my determination.” That sentence made me stand out among all the people who wanted to adopt Fuxiu, and I became his new owner.

Due to his past experiences, when Fuxiu first came to my home, he didn’t eat or drink for three days and didn’t allow anyone to get close to him. I tried to get on his good side, but he refused me mercilessly. He is truly independent. Half a year after he came to my home, my grandmother passed away due to old age. The whole family went to my grandmother’s house to handle the funeral arrangements. We quickly prepared a litter box and cat food for Fuxiu and left home for three days. When we came back three days later, he meowed and clung to us, not wanting to leave our side even for a moment. From then on, Fuxiu officially became a part of our family.

In our family, which has many animals, Fuxiu also needed to establish his position. With my mother’s doting, he has always held the second place. Who do you think holds the first place? Do you think it’s the Husky? No, it’s the Cocker Spaniel named Niuniu. Every day, scenes of Fuxiu suddenly rushing out and “beating up” the Husky, Xiaowu, play out in our home. In fact, it’s just a game between the small animals. Every time, Fuxiu teaches Xiaowu a lesson, making Xiaowu dare not look at him directly. Xiaowu tilts his head and looks at Fuxiu with squinted eyes, and the scene is really hilarious.

Fuxiu has a unique charm. He may be independent and proud, but he also has a soft side. He brings so much joy and warmth to our family. His presence has not only enriched our lives but also made us more empathetic towards animals. He is not just a pet; he is a beloved family member. I am grateful to have him in my life, and I look forward to spending many more years with this wonderful Siamese cat, creating more precious memories together.
