Raising a pet is a wonderful journey full of surprises and challenges, and my time spent with the Siamese cat Xianxian in my family is an even more unique and unforgettable experience.
Xianxian, this name sounds somewhat special. It is a distinctive cat, known as a “cat that can be walked”. It has an extremely friendly personality, like a warm little sun, always bringing endless joy to those around it. However, its appearance is a bit inconsistent. Sometimes it looks really good. Last summer, it had a snow – white coat, clean and beautiful. But since last winter, its fur color has gradually darkened and still hasn’t turned white yet. It looks like a rough – looking old man now. Its daily posture is the “Xian – Ge Slouch”, as if this way of sleeping can make it feel extremely comfortable. It is also the kind of little guy that will run away as soon as you let go of the leash, which makes people angry and funny at the same time.
Speaking of Xianxian’s past, it has a sad history. I adopted it from a pet hospital. When it was only two months old, it had an accident and fell off the table, breaking its leg. Before that, it also suffered from urinary obstruction. Its previous owner gave 1000 yuan to the hospital and never showed up again. At that time, although Xianxian was suffering from physical pain, it had a very cheerful and lively personality and was not afraid of strangers at all. As long as someone approached, it would enthusiastically stretch out its little paws, as if actively inviting you to play with it. Its cute appearance could capture people’s hearts instantly.
Having raised Xianxian for so long, I have also accumulated a lot of experience in pet – raising. I especially want to share some key points that need attention when raising pets.
First and foremost, a strong sense of responsibility is essential. Once you decide to raise a pet, it means taking responsibility for their entire life, from daily diet and living to medical treatment when they are sick. Every aspect cannot be ignored. Pets are not just playmates in our lives but family members that need our careful care.
Regularly vaccinating pets is of utmost importance. Never take chances. Take them to the pet hospital for vaccinations on time every year. This builds a solid defense line for the health of pets and can effectively prevent many serious diseases.
Regular deworming is also indispensable, both internally and externally. Don’t think that going to the pet hospital for deworming is the doctor trying to deceive you. In fact, deworming is extremely important for the health of pets. Imagine if a cute little cat is full of parasites, not only will it make them uncomfortable, but it may also affect their life and health. Just thinking about it makes one’s scalp tingle.
If you want your pet’s hair to be healthy and shiny, hair – removing paste, nutritional paste, and lecithin are all necessary. The hair – removing paste can help cats smoothly expel the hair they lick into their stomachs and avoid hairball syndrome. The nutritional paste can supplement various nutrients they need in daily life. Lecithin helps nourish the hair, making it more supple and shiny.
It is also important to note that never feed pets human food. Whether it’s dogs or cats, their digestive systems are different from those of humans. Some ingredients in human food may be harmful to them, affecting their health and even endangering their lives.
If you have a cat, you should prepare a cat scratching post for it from an early age. Cats are born with the habit of sharpening their claws. If there is no suitable cat scratching post, when they grow up, the furniture, sofas, etc. in the house may all become their “sharpening objects”, leaving scratches everywhere.
In the days spent with Xianxian, it has brought me countless joys and touches. From its bumpy past to its happy life by my side now, I have deeply realized the significance of raising pets.
