When I was born, my family just got a puppy.
I vaguely remember that when it grew up, it looked like a Labrador with several colors. It
was very honest.
My family lived halfway up the mountain. In those days, there were often thieves.
But with it, we were relieved.
When I was a child, I was very naughty. When I was doing homework, it kept barking, so I tied its mouth with a rubber band.
My mother was very surprised. Why didn’t this guy bark for a day and didn’t eat a single bite of the food I gave it. My sister
took a closer look with a flashlight and saw that there was a rubber band tied by me on its mouth, so it couldn’t open its mouth at all.
That night, I was beaten up.

The next day, several policemen came and told the family that a murderer had hidden in the mountains here, and asked if we saw anything.
That year, there was no surveillance, no drones, and I didn’t know whether the criminals were finally caught.
Maybe the dog kept barking to scare him away.
In a flash, sixteen years have passed.
That evening, the sky was really dark.
The dog was tied to a tree on the slope in front of the door.
I was sitting at the door, boredly looking at the bugs on the ground.
It suddenly called out to me twice.
I thought it was calling out to passers-by, so I looked up and saw no one nearby.
It just looked at me quietly.
Then, it looked up at the sky in the distance, just staring at it steadily, and then slowly lay on the ground.
Then it began to struggle, kicked its legs a few times, and then stopped moving.
Because it was a slope, it was hung there by a chain.
I went over to take a look, it didn’t move, and its eyes were still open.
It turned out that it died of old age.
It turned out that it was saying goodbye to me.
I untied the chain and put it on flat ground.
I will always remember how I felt at that time, it was really sad.
It lived for a long time and has been protecting us.
I can only hope that it will be reincarnated as a human being and born into a wealthy family.
We buried it near our home.
Its name is Saihu, a name my sister gave it.
