My Beloved Siamese Cat: A Source of Endless Delight

My Beloved Siamese Cat: A Source of Endless Delight

When I first entertained the idea of getting a cat, I was torn between an English Shorthair and a Siamese. The English Shorthair, with its chubby and adorable appearance, was certainly appealing. However, it was the unique charm of the Siamese that ultimately won me over.

On the very first night I brought my Siamese cat home, he hid under the sofa. My sister and I decided to leave him be and sat on the sofa watching TV. After about four hours, he slowly poked his head out, carefully observing us. Of course, we pretended not to notice him. Then, he began to explore the house, meowing softly all the while, as if he was searching for his mother. At that moment, I felt a pang of guilt for bringing him into this unfamiliar environment.

The next morning, when I opened my eyes, I was greeted by the sight of him standing at the head of the bed, gazing at me intently. From that moment on, I believe our bond of trust began to form.

As time went by, he became my little “cotton-padded jacket” in the most endearing way. When I left the house, he would stand at the door, seeing me off. And when I returned home and opened the door, I would always find him crouching there, waiting for me. If I came back late, he would meow a few times as a way of protesting. At night, as soon as I turned off the lights, he knew it was time for bed and would obediently return to his own little nest. In the morning, he would wake me up, and my mom no longer had to worry about me being late for anything.

When the weather turned a bit cold, he became especially clingy. Sometimes, he would even give me a little “kiss” when I wasn’t expecting it. He has a particular fondness for fruits. Whenever he saw us eating fruit, he would wave his little paws at us, as if asking for a taste. The molar stick I bought for him could be easily bitten in half by him, but when I teased him with my finger, he knew to bite gently.

There are countless such details in our daily life together. Living with him has brought me so much joy and amusement. If you’re thinking about getting a cat, I would definitely encourage you to do so. But you must carefully consider whether you are truly committed to being there for your pet through thick and thin.

Now, let me share some pictures. The first one was taken when I just brought him home. There’s also a candid shot that I took by chance (I’m like a proud mother when it comes to taking pictures of him). There’s a picture of him looking shy, covering his face. He looks like a new favorite in the fashion world in one of the pictures. And there’s a picture of him being timid when we go out, as if he’s saying, “Mom, don’t leave me. Take me with you on your business trip…” (Indeed, he is the only thing I worry about when I’m on a business trip.)

I later realized that the unique charm of my Siamese cat lies in his seemingly aloof appearance, while deep down, he has a gentle and playful side. It’s almost like he has a bit of a split personality!

Update on March 25th, 2016: I’m here to share some close-up pictures. (Yes, as you might have guessed, he has completely turned into a black-faced cat now.) In one picture, he looks like an emperor, sitting high up and saying, “All my subjects, rise.” In another, he seems to be saying, “I just forgot to retract my paw while sleeping. How could I possibly be acting cute?” And there’s a picture where he shows off his perfect profile, as if inviting you to admire it. And in one picture, he looks so proud of the “pit” he dug, as if asking, “Viewers, are you going to jump in or not?”

Update on October 25th, 2016: I’m thrilled to celebrate the first time Dou Ge and Gorky appeared in the same frame!

My Siamese cat has truly become an indispensable part of my life. His presence fills my days with warmth, laughter, and a sense of companionship that I cherish deeply. I look forward to creating many more beautiful memories with him in the future.
