Monkey: My Lovable and Endearing Siamese Companion

Monkey: My Lovable and Endearing Siamese Companion

Monkey, my adorable Siamese cat, is not just a pet; she is a precious part of my life, with a personality that is as rich and diverse as it is charming.

One of the most remarkable traits of Monkey is her ability to understand human nature. When her water bowl is empty or her food supply runs low, she immediately springs into action. With a series of insistent meows, she manages to capture my attention. Once she has succeeded in getting me to notice her, she scurries over to her food or water bowl with remarkable speed, making it abundantly clear what she needs. And if I happen to neglect her needs and she finds herself hungry or thirsty, especially during the night, she won’t hesitate to wake me up. Her meows become louder and more persistent, and she might even nudge me with her head or paw at my face until I attend to her.

Initially, I had a rule that cats were not allowed on the bed. However, Monkey’s clinginess proved to be too strong to resist. As soon as it’s time for bed at night, she would jump onto the bed and find a cozy spot to lie down. Every time I tried to shoo her away and zipped up the mosquito net tightly, she would always find a way to breach the barrier. She would use her claws to scratch at the net, patiently working at it until she managed to create a small opening. Then, with a curious little head poking through, she would make her way inside and jump onto the bed. In the end, I simply couldn’t bring myself to keep her off, and I gave in to her persistent efforts. During the night, she usually settles down and sleeps, much like I do. In the morning, around seven o’clock, she comes to wake me up. She rubs her head against me and gently touches me with her paw. Although I often ignore her at first, she doesn’t seem to mind. She will then go back to sleep and only gets up when I finally rise from the bed.

Another aspect of cat ownership that I had not anticipated was the overwhelming smell of cat feces. It is incredibly pungent, far more so than I could have ever imagined. When I first had to clean the litter box, the stench was so strong that it made me feel quite queasy. But as a responsible cat owner, I knew that it was my duty to take care of this unpleasant task, no matter how difficult or unappealing it might be. So, with a sigh and a determination to fulfill my responsibilities, I persevered and cleaned up after my beloved Monkey.

Now, for a heart – melting bonus story. One afternoon, I was lying on the bed, engrossed in a TV drama. Monkey was lying beside me, sound asleep, and I paid her little attention as I was focused on the show. By the time I had finished watching the series, Monkey was still fast asleep. Out of curiosity, I gently nudged her. She seemed to be in a deep slumber, so I nudged her again. To my surprise, she didn’t wake up. Seizing the opportunity, I decided to have a bit of fun. I carefully picked up her front paw and placed a small monkey plush toy next to her. As if they were having a conversation, I imagined the plush toys speaking. The little bear plush toy said, “I want to take a photo with Monkey too.” The little pig chimed in, “I want to lie in Monkey’s embrace.” The little monkey plush toy said, “I want to change my pose for the photo.” And then, “Let’s change the pose again.” The little bear added, “Monkey, save a spot for me. I want to strike a pose too.” But alas, my playful actions eventually woke Monkey up. She opened her eyes groggily and seemed to be saying, “What on earth is going on? I’m so sleepy, and this is so uncomfortable.” She then shifted her position, looking for a more comfortable spot. At that moment, my heart was filled with warmth and affection. How could she sleep so soundly and deeply? It made me realize just how tired she must have been.

I am truly grateful to Monkey. Although there are times when she makes me angry or causes a bit of mischief, she brings me far more joy and touching moments. As a novice cat owner, I am still learning and growing, but I am thankful every day for this little life that has become an integral part of mine. Monkey, you are not just a cat; you are a source of love, laughter, and countless precious memories.
