In the long journey of life, pets often become our most intimate companions, giving us endless warmth and comfort. The little moments between me and my Siamese cat, Xiao Yi, have formed a warm and touching picture, and every moment is worthy of my careful collection.
Xiao Yi, my precious cat like a little prince, always expresses his love for me in his unique way. Every night when I lie down to rest, he will run over with light steps, as if he knows I need company. He lies down beside me with a sense of grandeur and willingly lets me rest my head on his body. At that moment, he is like a loyal guard, silently guarding me, giving me a full sense of security with his warm body and coaxing me to sleep. When he is sure that I have fallen asleep, he will secretly run out to play. In the middle of the night, he will come back to me, gently press his head against my face, and snuggle up to me to fall asleep. Sometimes, I will be awakened by his gentle licking in my sleep. Although it is a bit unexpected, my heart is filled with sweetness.
On ordinary days, as soon as I lie down, Xiao Yi will lie beside me obediently. If he sees that I have been playing with my phone for too long, he will gently lick me with his tongue, as if reminding me to pay attention to rest and go to sleep quickly. With him lying beside me, I always feel protected and extremely at ease, and I can truly feel his deep love for me.
In the morning, being awakened by Xiao Yi’s clingy and coquettish sounds has become a normal part of my life. His cute appearance makes me can’t help but want to pet him a few more times, so much so that I have been late for work many times because of him. Sometimes I say to him anxiously, “Son, I’m going to work!” But he still goes his own way and keeps acting coquettishly.
I used to be worried about being hit in the face by Xiao Yi who was running around on the upper bunk in my sleep, and unexpectedly, this worry came true. One morning, he lost his balance and fell off the ladder. The loud noise woke me up from my sleep instantly. I instinctively reached out my hand and firmly caught him in my arms. And this naughty boy calmly lay down, threw me a flirtatious glance, and then started purring. The whole process was smooth and natural, without the slightest sense of disharmony, making me angry and amused at the same time.
During the three days when I went home for the Spring Festival, Xiao Yi was really anxious. The moment I opened the door, he immediately jumped into my arms, stayed by my side without leaving even for a moment, and kept crying pitifully, as if telling me his longing and dissatisfaction. Looking at his pitiful appearance, I felt so heartbroken and quickly promised him, “I’m sorry, my cat! I really won’t leave again, I promise!”
Xiao Yi’s cuteness is far more than that. When I lie on the bed and play with my phone, he will insist on squeezing between my face and the phone and then lie down. After that, he will turn his head and throw me a flirtatious glance, looking as if he is saying, “What are you looking at on the phone? You can only have me in your eyes.” Sometimes when I say to him, “Yi, it’s time for you to wash your feet!” His surprised and cute reaction, as well as his pretending to lose his memory, always make me laugh.
Xiao Yi has also learned many interesting skills. Wearing a small bell and acting cute, he is extremely lovely in the Weibo videos; and when he learned to talk back, he brought me a lot of joy. However, there are also times when he makes me feel sorry for him. When he accidentally got ringworm, his originally handsome appearance became a bit flustered. Even with a neck collar on, he still wants to get close to me. In the middle of the night, he often tries to stick his face out of the collar and press it against my face, but the collar wakes me up. But he doesn’t give up and even tries to stick his hand to me. His persistence makes me feel both helpless and touched.
I really like to communicate with Xiao Yi by meowing, and he also likes to imitate the tone of my voice. As time goes by, I can even teach him some tones and meanings. Sometimes when I talk to him for a long time, after I finish, he will look at me and meow affirmatively. Although I don’t know if he really understands, this kind of interaction makes our relationship deeper and deeper. Once, on a whim, I taught him to call me mom. He actually squatted on the ground and carefully imitated, “Ah —— Ah.” His serious appearance surprised me a lot. Since then, he has gained a new skill and is getting better and better at it.
