My Adorable Silver Shaded British Shorthair and Our Growing Together

When it comes to bringing a cat into one’s life, the journey is often filled with a mix of joys and challenges. I decided to welcome a silver shaded British Shorthair into my home, and the experience has been nothing short of wonderful and eventful.

I paid 880 yuan for my silver shaded British Shorthair, and with an additional 260 yuan for transportation, the total cost was just a little over 1000 yuan. I chose to handle the vaccination process myself. It’s been only 80 days since I brought this little furball home, but it has already become an essential part of my life. It is extremely cute, with a round and chubby body that makes it look absolutely adorable. So far, it has received the first dose of the vaccine, and I am getting ready to take it for the second one. A visit to the pet hospital confirmed that it is in perfect health.

In terms of its personality, it is really lovely. On the first day it arrived, it had an accident and pooped in its nest, but ever since then, it has been using the litter box consistently and has never had an accident elsewhere. In the beginning, it meowed a lot at night, keeping me awake for two nights. Then, for another couple of nights, it refused to sleep in the cage and preferred to sleep on my bed. However, with a little patience and training, I managed to correct this behavior. Now, when it’s time for bed, I put it in the cage, and it doesn’t make a sound. I’m someone who likes to sleep in, sometimes not waking up until 11 or 12 o’clock in the morning. It waits quietly in its cage and only meows when it sees that I’m awake, at which point I let it out. It even likes to sleep with its head on my hand, which is just the sweetest thing.

The video the seller sent me when I bought it showed a cute kitten, but I’m not an expert in judging a cat’s appearance, and to be honest, it doesn’t matter much to me. Since I’m not planning to breed it, as long as it has a good personality and is healthy, that’s all that counts. It’s a little male cat, and when the right time comes, I will take it to be neutered.

Lately, though, I’ve been facing a bit of a problem. It has been biting me quite often these days. I’m not sure why this is happening. Perhaps it’s because I sometimes use my hands to play with it. But it doesn’t just bite my hands; it also goes for my arms and feet. The seller suggested that I point at its nose and say “no”, but it doesn’t seem to be afraid. When I pick it up by the scruff of its neck, it becomes docile, but as soon as I let go, it starts biting again. I’m really hoping that other cat owners can share their tips and tricks in the comments section to help me deal with this issue.

On September 26, 2022, I have another update about my “naughty cat”. Recently, it has been pooping on the floor. Strangely, it uses the litter box for urination but chooses to poop on the floor. This has become a bit of a headache for me. I’m constantly trying to figure out what might be causing this behavior change. Is it something about the litter box? Or perhaps a sign of some underlying discomfort? I’m determined to get to the bottom of this and help my little friend develop better habits. Through all these experiences, I’ve realized that being a cat owner is not always easy, but the love and companionship my silver shaded British Shorthair brings me make every effort worth it.
