When I first laid my eyes on the little silver shaded British Shorthair in a small video, I was immediately smitten. It was so fluffy and cute that I knew right away I had to have it. I found this precious kitten on Xianyu, which was the second – born of the first litter of a cat mom raised by an individual. I bought it for 1600 yuan and brought it home when it was just over two months old.
However, there was a bit of an amusing mix – up. When I purchased the cat, I was told it was a female. But after raising it for more than two months, I discovered it had testicles! I was so shocked that I quickly looked up methods to distinguish the gender, and indeed, I realized my cat was a male. When I asked the young man who sold me the cat, he said he might have made a mistake. I was quite taken aback. Initially, I had planned to raise the cat until it was over a year old, find it a partner, and let it have a litter so that I could experience the joy of having little kittens and leave it with descendants. But this plan was shattered.
Now, my cat is seven months old. Some time ago, I chatted with the seller. He told me that one of my cat’s brothers had already been neutered because it urinated everywhere at home. I guess it won’t be long before my cat also needs to be neutered. When it starts to show signs of estrus, I’ll consider whether to find it a temporary partner.
Let me share some of our wonderful moments. The first time we met, the seller brought the cat to me. Since it was only a five – minute walk from my home, I just took a small cloth bag to pick up my little one. It was incredibly well – behaved, with a soft and gentle meow. As soon as it arrived home, it began to explore the surrounding environment, squeezing into the hole next to the sofa. Cats always seem to be fascinated by such small holes and can’t resist reaching in. After playing for a while, it would lie down on the spot and fall asleep. At that time, its eyes were blue, but now they have turned yellow – green.
My cat has a very lively and playful personality. It’s easy to amuse, but it also has a naughty side. It loves to mess with my green plants. Three pots of Epipremnum aureum in my room were successively knocked to the ground by it. It also liked to dig in a pot of soil with scallions in the kitchen. One day, when I picked it up to stop it from digging, to my surprise, it dropped a pile of feces on the ground. Only then did I realize it had been using the pot as a litter box. So, I had to throw away the soil. Maybe the texture of the tofu – based cat litter I bought just isn’t as appealing as soil to it.
Despite these little mischievous acts, most of the time, it is an extremely cute and adorable pet. Its sleeping positions are truly a sight to behold. Sometimes it sleeps with its paws in the air, as if imitating my own habit of sleeping with my hands up. Other times, it lies on its back. I even photoshopped a picture of it in a funny pose. It can assume all kinds of positions, which really shows how flexible a cat’s body is. It can lie down and sleep just like a human being. I feel like I could write a whole article about the various sleeping positions of my cat.
Now that it’s over seven months old, it has become even more charming. Its personality is extremely friendly. It never gets angry no matter how much I pet it. When I hold it, it purrs contentedly. When I bought the cat, the seller showed me videos from the cat’s parents’ mating to the mother’s pregnancy and the subsequent birth. It was clear that the cats were well – cared – for at home. Since I brought it home, it has been very healthy. At the beginning, its ears and nose were a bit dirty, but a daily wipe solved the problem. Finally, here is a photo taken last Christmas. It’s a beautiful memory that captures the cuteness of my beloved cat.
