My Precious Rescue Cat, Jiujiu: A Story of Love and Worry

My Precious Rescue Cat, Jiujiu: A Story of Love and Worry

Before writing this account, I would like to apologize to everyone in advance. My cat, Jiujiu, was a rescued cat. On a rainy night, my sister’s colleague found her and asked my sister for help. My sister brought her back home overnight. When Jiujiu came to us, she had poor eyesight, a problem with her left ear, and she was extremely thin. The veterinarian estimated that she was only a little over a month old.

On the night Jiujiu arrived, she was surprisingly quiet, which made me really nervous. But in the early morning, around five o’clock, she started to become active. I prepared breakfast for her, and she ate it with great relish. She was like a small, moving ball of fur, so adorable.

Jiujiu is incredibly clingy. She loves to climb onto people. As soon as I sit down, she will climb onto my lap. Even when I’m standing, she will try to climb up and hang on me, and it’s almost impossible to shoo her away. Her clinginess makes me feel both loved and a bit overwhelmed at times, but I cherish every moment of her affection.

Due to her poor eyesight, before I had the chance to buy medicine from the pet hospital, I applied erythromycin eye ointment to her eyes. Fortunately, it worked quite well, and I was delighted to see her eyes gradually getting better. The next day, I went to the pet hospital and bought eye drops and cat litter.

Jiujiu is extremely well-behaved and obedient. As soon as I set up the cat litter, she knew exactly what to do and used it to relieve herself. The way she goes to the toilet is so cute. She raises her tail and wags it while doing her business. At first, I was really worried that she might have diarrhea, but luckily, that never happened. Every time she had a bowel movement, I would be on tenterhooks, fearing that she might get sick.

On the second night after Jiujiu came to our home, I sensed that something was not quite right with her, although I couldn’t exactly put my finger on what it was. I also had some strange dreams that night. In the morning, I was so anxious that I rushed to check on her. Fortunately, she was making sounds. When I walked over, she climbed onto my foot on her own. I gave her breakfast, but she didn’t eat it. I thought the food in the bowl might have gone stale, so I took out some fresh cat food from the container. She took a few bites but still refused to drink water. I told her that if she didn’t drink water, she couldn’t follow me, and then I pretended to be strict with her. She was just so good. She is truly the most obedient cat I’ve ever known.

Taking care of Jiujiu has been a journey filled with both joy and worry. Her vulnerable state when she first came to us made me feel a strong sense of responsibility to take good care of her. Every small progress she makes, like her improving eyesight or her proper use of the cat litter, fills me with pride and happiness. Despite the constant worry about her health, I wouldn’t trade the time spent with her for anything. She has become an important part of my life, and I will do everything in my power to ensure that she grows up healthy and happy. I look forward to watching her continue to thrive and creating many more wonderful memories together.
