Beware of Online Cat – Buying Scams: My Unfortunate Experience

In the beginning of 2019, as I was browsing various interesting posts on Zhihu as usual, I accidentally came across a post about a silver – shaded cat named Li Bai. In the post, the WeChat account of the cat’s owner was recommended. Out of love and curiosity for cats, I added her WeChat. For about half a year after that, I quietly observed the cute cat – related updates in her Moments. Gradually, the idea of buying a cat germinated in my heart.

At the beginning of May, I finally decided to reserve a silver – shaded cat from her. At that time, the price she offered was 4500 yuan. Full of anticipation, I paid a deposit of 2500 yuan, eagerly waiting for the arrival of my little cutie. However, in July, when I asked her if I could get a cat with a better appearance, things started to develop in an unexpected direction. She actually demanded a price increase, claiming that she would give me a cat with an excellent appearance and a pedigree certificate, and the price soared directly to 10,000 yuan. Although I hesitated in my heart, because I really liked silver – shaded cats, I chose to believe her and successively transferred 2000 yuan and 5500 yuan to her.

At the beginning of September, I saw a form in her Moments. It clearly stated that there would be a silver – shaded cat from Anhui on October 8th. I wholeheartedly thought that it was the cat I had been looking forward to for a long time. However, when October 8th arrived, I couldn’t get in touch with her no matter what. She didn’t notify me to pick up the cat as agreed. When I asked anxiously, she just casually said that she was busy. Since then, I have been in a long – term waiting and suffering. Since December of the previous year, I have been constantly urging her to send me videos and photos of the cat, wanting to know the situation of my cat. But she always procrastinated. Every time I sent a large number of messages, she would only send one or two emoticons to perfunctorily deal with me every half a month or a month.

I began to realize that something was wrong, and my heart was filled with unease and anger. In the continuous waiting and disappointment, I decided not to sit around and do nothing. So, I posted my experience online, hoping to attract everyone’s attention. Unexpectedly, after the post was sent, I received responses from many people who had the same experience. It turned out that so many people had been deceived by her. At that moment, I was even more determined to safeguard my rights and interests.

Now, I have sued her in court. During the lawsuit, I saw her pretending to be innocent in her Moments, claiming that others had wronged her. But facts speak louder than words. There is also the enforcement notice issued by the court for her to return the money after a partner who was deceived by her sued her. This iron – clad evidence proves her fraudulent behavior. Through this painful experience, I deeply realize that when buying cats online, one must be extremely careful. Don’t easily trust sellers without credit guarantees. Before making a payment, one must consider carefully and carefully verify the other party’s information and reputation. I hope my experience can ring the alarm for everyone, avoiding more people from suffering from scams like mine, and allowing everyone who wants to buy a pet to find their beloved little partner in a safe and reliable environment.
