It has been the third day since Zhaocai came to my home. Its arrival has added more joy and stories to our already lively home. It came from a friend’s house. The cat mother in my friend’s house gave birth to lovely kittens. Since I have always loved raising small animals and my friend was worried that the kittens would not be happy if they fell into the hands of irresponsible people, she entrusted Zhaocai to me.
My home was already very lively. There is a 7 – year – old Teddy named Kaka, two lively hamsters, two colorful Siamese fighting fish, and an eastern musk turtle. Zhaocai is a British Shorthair silver – shaded cat. It has cute pink paw pads, and it looks extremely lovely. From the moment it stepped into my home, it could be seen that it has a strong ability to adapt to the strange environment.
I still remember the first day Zhaocai arrived home. I was so happy that I wanted to get close to it. However, because I was not familiar with the habits of cats and still stroked it in the way I stroke a dog, unexpectedly, it scratched a cut on my hand. Helplessly, I had to go and get a rabies vaccine. But this can’t be blamed on Zhaocai. After all, it was my lack of understanding of the behavior of cats. Despite this little episode, after only three days of getting along, I deeply felt the cuteness and high appearance value of silver – shaded cats. I still loved it in my heart and also looked forward to it getting along harmoniously with Kaka in my family.
Time passed quickly, and the first day of 2019 arrived. Zhaocai had been in my home for a month. It gradually showed the common characteristic of silver – shaded cats – being extremely clingy. Wherever my wife or I went, it followed closely, not willing to be separated for a moment. It especially enjoyed being kneaded by us. Under our strokes, it was even kneaded into various interesting emoticons by my wife. Zhaocai also paid special attention to our every move. Even when I went to the toilet, it was worried that I would fall into the toilet and stared at me closely beside me. Its appearance was very interesting.
Zhaocai ate a lot. Although it was only 4 months old, it had an amazing appetite. A large bag of the kitten series cat food from Afei and Badi was only enough for it to eat for a month. Eating a lot naturally meant pooping a lot. Every day, I had to shovel the cat litter twice. If I was a little lazy, it would step on the poop and walk around the house, making a mess at home. As time went by, Zhaocai was 5 months old, and its weight increased sharply. It became even more clingy. Every day when we opened the door, we could see it warmly greeting us at the door, turning around at our feet and rubbing against us constantly, as if telling us its missing for us. Moreover, it could “complain”. One day, my wife shaved the hair on its belly, and it immediately ran in front of me, lay down, exposed its belly, and meowed hard, as if complaining to me. My son also especially liked to play with it. The two of them often played and laughed together, bringing a lot of joy to the family.
On the morning of July 5, 2019, Zhaocai finally could not escape the sterilization operation. My wife told me afterwards that when she saw Zhaocai’s pitiful appearance after the operation, she couldn’t help crying. She thought Zhaocai had suffered too much. Looking at my wife’s reaction, I couldn’t help but feel a tightening in my lower body. I secretly sighed that women really couldn’t be offended. They could decisively take the cat to be sterilized and feel distressed and cry afterwards, which made people angry and funny. To soothe my wife’s emotions, I quickly bought the big gold bracelet she had long desired. After the big gold bracelet arrived, while watching my wife happily put it on, I thought about cutting Zhaocai’s nails. Zhaocai was very obedient. When I cut its nails, it quietly cooperated without any resistance.
On August 14, 2019, Zhaocai’s sister Luna also came to my home. At the first meeting, Zhaocai, who was one year old, and Luna, who was two months old, formed a sharp contrast. Luna was small in size but extremely cute. Looking at these two lovely cats, I am full of anticipation that they can grow up happily in this home and continue to bring us more warm and interesting stories, making our home always full of love and laughter.
