Dogs are the most loyal companions of humans

The friendship between humans and dogs can be regarded as the most sincere friendship in the world today. As the most loyal companions of humans, dogs play many irreplaceable roles in modern life. For example, guide dogs, search and rescue dogs, drug detection dogs and bomb disposal dogs. These dogs that play special roles even sacrifice their lives to serve humans, which is really unfaithful. The most common pet dogs we come into contact with in our daily lives are pet dogs. Most pet dogs look very cute, making people want to get close to them. However, are dogs regarded as friends and partners by humans just because they are cute? Obviously not. In the process of human selection, dogs that will not be “licking dogs” have been abandoned by humans. Dogs that are not loyal to humans have also disappeared from human life. Now the dogs that can be regarded as friends or even family members by humans have been left after layers of evolution and elimination. The relationship between humans and dogs is no longer a simple relationship. So how loyal are dogs to humans?

Most people have heard of the story of Hachiko, a loyal dog. There is a dog named Hachiko in Japan, and his owner is a professor. Hachiko would go to the subway station every day to send the professor to work, and would go to the subway station on time to pick up the professor after work. Until one day, the professor suddenly had a heart attack and fell at work. But Hachiko did not understand his master’s departure, and he still came to the subway station on time every afternoon to wait for his master to come home, rain or shine. In this way, spring came and went, flowers bloomed and faded, and Hachiko waited for nine years. The professor never showed up, but Hachiko was still waiting foolishly. This incident was later reported by the Asahi Shimbun in Japan, which moved the people. People built a statue of Hachiko at the Shibuya subway station in Japan as a symbol of loyalty.

Coincidentally, there is also a dog in Zhengzhou, Henan Province that is comparable to Hachiko. His name is Diandian. His owner is an old man. After the old man died, there was no one at home. Diandian would use his paws to slap the iron door of the owner’s house every night, but he would never get a response. There are many deep paw prints on the iron door. According to neighbors in the community, after the old man died, his son took Diandian to Xinzheng, nearly 100 kilometers away from Zhengzhou. But a few days later, people found that Diandian returned to the door of his owner’s house. Every night, he would knock on the iron door, whimpering softly while knocking. Everyone knew that it was Diandian crying. No one knew how he ran back from 100 kilometers away. But when people saw him, they cried with heartache. Because Diandian was already skinny. He would not eat when others fed him. He just knocked on the door and cried at the door of his owner’s house. Seeing that Diandian was so thin that he was about to starve to death, people had to ask the animal shelter for help. The staff gave Diandian anesthesia and took him away in a completely anesthetized state. As a result, he ran back again a few days later. The staff were very puzzled. It was impossible for him to remember the way when he was anesthetized throughout the whole process, but Diandian could still find his home.

The relationship between these dogs and people has gone through life and death. They are loyal to their owners. Even if their owners can never come back to see them, they will never give up. Everyone knows that dogs are one of the most loyal animals, but how many people have thought about why they are loyal? Modern scientific research shows that gray wolves are the ancestors of dogs, and the dogs we see now have gradually evolved from wolves. Fifteen thousand years ago, humans were still very weak at that time, and they could only be bullied by wolves. Humans living in small groups were in danger of being wiped out by wolves at any time. People lived a life of wandering around until humans mastered agricultural production technology and entered the farming era, and this situation changed dramatically. Nature became their natural ally, and humans no longer wandered around looking for food. They could build villages in fixed locations and live on the food they grew. At the same time, people gradually learned a skill that made them completely different from animals, that is, using tools.

The acquisition of this skill directly changed the survival status of humans in nature. Relying on tools, humans can easily hunt animals that are several times stronger than themselves. This includes wolves. After killing a large number of highly aggressive wolves, the wolf pack changed. Because the powerful and fierce wolves were hunted by humans and lost their main hunters, the remaining wolves with less fierce temperament and weaker hunting ability found it difficult to survive in nature. So they gradually approached human villages, trying to reach some kind of contract or balance with humans. Wolves are actually afraid of humans by nature. This is because the stress hormones in wolves are very high, and they will feel fear when they are close to humans. Some scholars believe that a gene mutation in prehistoric wolves reduced the level of stress hormones in wolves. This caused some wolves to be less afraid of humans. This mutation directly changed the relationship between humans and wolves. It also laid the foundation for humans and wolves, that is, dogs later, to become loyal friends. Due to the distribution of labor in prehistoric times, men generally went out hunting, while women stayed at home to take care of children. When some weak wolves or young wolves accidentally broke into human settlements, they did not show aggression, and women were naturally unable to resist cute little animals. When they saw the little wolves, they would burst out with maternal instincts, so they took them in and fed them. In fact, some wolves have even eaten human milk.

One common feature of mammals is dependence. Wolves that have come into contact with humans have benefited from humans and gradually become dependent on them. As time goes by, more and more docile wolves are adopted in the village. They are protected from hunger and cold under the protection of humans, and can also avoid being attacked by other beasts. These wolves also regard humans as their family. This is the earliest domesticated wolf. Wolves and humans cooperate with each other. Wolves will help humans hunt stronger animals. At the same time, they get food from humans. In this way, a very special relationship is established between wolves and humans. Now we call it friendship. As time goes by, wolves that have lived with humans for a long time have changed in all aspects. After being domesticated, they gradually adapted to the new lifestyle and eating habits. They no longer hunt in groups, but attack with humans. This has caused them to lose the ability to fight in groups. There have also been changes in their bodies. Originally, they had to remain highly vigilant in the wild, causing the wolf’s ears to always be in an erect state.

Today’s wolves no longer need to worry about being attacked by other animals, so they rarely use their ear muscles, which causes their ears to droop. At this time, the wolf has completely evolved into a new species, that is, the dog. Of course, the ancestors of dogs are not just gray wolves. Many different wolves were domesticated into different kinds of dogs at almost the same time around the world. In the Roman Empire, people intervened more actively in the evolution of dogs. The Romans also learned to crossbreed different wolves to breed different breeds of dogs. Including larger dogs and smaller pet dogs. In this way, more breeds of dogs were derived. In this way, the relationship between dogs and humans has become closer and closer. Until now, many people regard dogs as family members. In the long process of evolution, dogs are also very smart. On the one hand, they rely on humans, and on the other hand, they know how to please humans. They will bring many unexpected surprises to humans, such as pet dogs standing at the door every day looking forward to welcoming you home. For example, dogs will give you a big surprise after you get off work, that is, tearing down the house. Today’s dogs’ dependence on humans is actually far greater than that of humans on dogs.

Because they have evolved to coexist with humans. People can survive without dogs, but dogs’ ability to survive without humans is questionable. So, if you really like dogs, don’t abandon them casually. Don’t bring a dog home just because you are passionate about it for a short time, and then ignore or even abandon it after the honeymoon period. Because dogs are absolutely loyal to people, but everything involving feelings is mutual. People should give back what they have received, and so should dogs. There was a guy named Xiao Ma abroad who had a golden retriever, but because he later became obsessed with traveling, he felt that the golden retriever had become a burden. Those who have raised dogs know that it is inconvenient to take the dog out, and it is also troublesome to store it, so he planned to throw the golden retriever away. When the summer vacation came, he went to the beach with his friends, and he told his friends that he wanted to get rid of the golden retriever. So when he passed the first gas station, he left the golden retriever at the gas station, and he and his friends drove away. In the next 9 days, Xiao Ma and his friends had a lot of fun outside.

But what he never expected was that on the ninth day, he saw a familiar dog on the beach. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be his golden retriever. Seeing the wet dog sniffing around in the crowd, it was obviously looking for him. You know, this place is 100 kilometers away from the gas station. Thinking of this, Xiao Ma Ge’s conscience suddenly came to his senses and he felt very sorry for the golden retriever. So he rushed over to give the golden retriever a big hug, but he didn’t expect that the dog and the owner would not reconcile. The golden retriever pounced on him and bit his arm hard. Then he broke free from his arms and ran away. Xiao Ma Ge’s screams echoed on the beach. Because the bite was quite serious, Xiao Ma Ge was sent to the hospital. When people found the dog again, he had been adopted by a kind-hearted person and lived a happy life. Here, I say for the dog who can’t speak: Those who abandon me will be bitten even if they are far away! Of course, this incident does not deny the loyalty of dogs to their owners. It just wants to show that love is mutual, and even animals understand this truth. Don’t easily hurt an animal that is loyal to you.
