In my life, there is an extremely cute little guy named Yuanbao, a British Shorthair cat. Every day, I am charmed by its cute appearance. It’s like a sweet little bomb that hits my heart unexpectedly.
At first, the idea of raising a cat encountered great resistance at home. My mother has a cleanliness fetish and she strongly opposed my idea of raising a cat, thinking that cats would make the house a mess. However, the arrival of Yuanbao quietly changed everything. When my mother first saw Yuanbao’s big, round eyes and furry little body, her heart was also melted. Since then, my mother’s attitude towards Yuanbao has gradually changed. She even specially created a Douyin account for it to record its every bit. Although this Douyin account doesn’t have many followers, we still enjoy uploading Yuanbao’s videos whenever we have time. Because we know that a cat’s life is relatively short, and we hope to preserve as much of its audio – visual materials as possible in the limited time. This is a precious proof of its entry into our lives.
British Shorthair cats of this breed are very suitable for home companionship. When Yuanbao was a kitten, it was very naughty. It always jumped around the house and was curious about everything. It would chase its own tail and throw toys everywhere, bringing us a lot of joy and small troubles. As time goes by, Yuanbao has gradually grown up. It has become more and more steady, often lying in a “Ge You – style” position anywhere and anytime, lazily enjoying life. Moreover, Yuanbao seems to have a natural sense of the camera. Perhaps because it doesn’t move much when it grows up, it is very easy to capture its cute moments. Every photo and every video records the footprint of its growth.
Every time I get home from work, it is the moment when Yuanbao is the most clingy. It will quickly run to the door to greet me, with its tail tightly hooked around my leg. It follows me wherever I go, as if it doesn’t want to be separated from me for a moment. Its enthusiastic appearance makes all my daily fatigue disappear instantly. Looking back on when Yuanbao was a kitten, it was only a tiny bit big, with a thin and long body, like a little bean sprout. But time flies. In the blink of an eye, it has grown up and become very strong, just like a “tough guy”. However, with its growth, the hair – shedding problem has become increasingly prominent. It seems that the cuteness of British Shorthair cats is really proportional to the amount of hair they shed. During the hair – shedding season, there is hair everywhere in the house, which is really a headache. Fortunately, with the help of the Dyson vacuum cleaner and the robot vacuum, I have reduced from mopping the floor twice a day to once every two days.
Yuanbao is not just a pet but also an indispensable member of our family, and my dearest furry child. When asked what it’s like to raise it, I would say that perhaps I take care of it materially, while it nourishes me spiritually. Its existence has made me understand the meaning of responsibility and companionship, and has also allowed me to find a warmth and comfort in the busy life. In the days to come, I hope to continue to accompany Yuanbao, witness more of its growth moments, and create more beautiful memories together. Although this is my first time speaking on Zhihu, I have so much to say about Yuanbao, and there are mountains of photos I want to share. When I have time in the future, I will definitely sort out more content and upload it, allowing more people to get to know this lovely little guy.
