On the last day of the National Day holiday, I faced a challenging task for both Yangleduo and me – giving Yangleduo its first bath in its cat life. The reason for this decision was that I suddenly noticed that its originally pink cat bed had turned gray. Apparently, playful Yangleduo had gotten itself very dirty.
Before the bath, I, the “old mother”, was extremely nervous. All kinds of worries flooded my mind. I was worried that Yangleduo might catch a cold, feared that it would be frightened, was concerned that it might suddenly scratch me with its claws, and was even more afraid that it would be angry and ignore me after the bath. What worried me the most, however, was that it might get sick because of the bath.
To prepare for this bath, I did a lot of work in advance. I carefully read many articles about bathing cats and learned various precautions. I trimmed Yangleduo’s nails to prevent it from accidentally scratching me during the bath. I fed it a small handful of cat food to make it “full and content”, and waited for it to poop so that there would be no “accidents” during the bath. I scrubbed the bath basin carefully to create a clean and comfortable environment for it.Everything seemed to be ready. However, when I was about to start bathing the cat with confidence, I embarrassingly found that I had actually forgotten to close the window and had not taken the hair dryer. It was really a laugh – and – cry situation.

However, when the bath actually started, things were much better than I had imagined. Yangleduo neither barked loudly nor resisted fiercely, nor did it stretch out its claws to attack me. It just made very small, pitiful meows and stretched out its small claws trying to escape. The whole bathing process was very fast and smooth. From the start of the bath to drying, it was completed in just ten minutes, and then it was time to blow – dry the hair. Blowing – dry the hair should be the most difficult part of the whole process. Because the sound of the hair dryer was too noisy, Yangleduo was very scared. Its small head kept drilling into my arms, trying to escape from this terrible sound, but it was too afraid to run away, and its whole body was shaking. Looking at its pitiful appearance, my heart melted. After the bath, I couldn’t help but let everyone “check” whether I had washed it clean. Of course, I didn’t wash its head. After all, a cat’s ears and eyes should try not to get wet.
In the bathroom, I was wearing an autumn – winter coral fleece two – piece set and felt like I was going to die of heat. It took a full hour to wash and blow – dry Yangleduo, and the temperature in the bathroom was as high as 28 degrees Celsius, and later even reached 29 degrees Celsius. The high temperature generated by the electricity almost made me, the “old mother”, suffer from heatstroke. But for Yangleduo’s health, I gritted my teeth and persevered.
After finishing the bathing, there was a new situation. The newly bought cat food arrived. It weighed a full 16 pounds. I carried it back from the Cainiao Station on my own. I felt like I was almost exhausted and almost had no chance to continue serving my cat master.
Preparing food for Yangleduo is also a kind of knowledge. I painstakingly cooked chicken breast for it, but it didn’t eat it at first. This really worried me. However, I quickly thought of a way. I broke up the nutritional supplement it loved and put it together with the chicken breast. Hey, Yangleduo happily ate them all up. I couldn’t help but praise my own cleverness. Usually, I also cook eggs for Yangleduo. A warm reminder: Feed a cat half an egg yolk every other day, twice a week. This is helpful for cheek development, coat shine, and bowel movement. Yangleduo is a thrifty and good – natured cat. When eating egg yolk, it will eat up all the crumbs. When cat food falls outside, it will definitely eat the outside ones first and then eat the ones in the bowl. After eating the nutritional supplement, it will also lick my hand clean, not wasting a bit. Sometimes, its love for eggs is beyond imagination. It can have a great time playing with an egg and seems to be saying: “Mom, don’t buy toys in the future. Just cook a few more eggs.” Although Yangleduo is sometimes naughty and a “hair – shedding monster”, its cute appearance and interesting behaviors make me love it even more. Every moment of getting along with Yangleduo is full of joy and warmth. It has long become an indispensable part of my life.
