The Life and Changes of My Cat Xiaobai

The Life and Changes of My Cat Xiaobai

Since the cat Xiaobai entered our lives, our days have been filled with unexpected joys and challenges. It’s like a naughty little angel, always bringing us all kinds of interesting things inadvertently.

Xiaobai seems to have a “special hostility” towards work. As long as it’s around, I can’t work at ease. Once, I was concentrating on my work when it jumped onto my desk and walked around on the documents. On a whim, I dotted a red spot on its head with lipstick. Its confused look with the red dot on its head was extremely funny, making me unable to resist putting down my work and teasing it for a while. When Dad is not at home, Xiaobai is also very bold. It directly occupies Dad’s position and lies comfortably, as if declaring its “sovereignty” over this home. Sometimes, it will make a soft meowing sound in its sleep, and its body trembles slightly. Probably it’s having a spring dream. Its cute appearance makes people laugh. And my daughter regards Xiaobai as her own fashion doll, dressing it up beautifully, putting on a small hairpin and a little skirt. Xiaobai also cooperates obediently and instantly becomes a “fashion little star”.

However, there are also troubles mixed in the happy times. In a blink of an eye, it was on the eve of the Spring Festival in 2020. We found that Xiaobai started urinating everywhere. After consulting experienced predecessors and friends, we learned that this was a sign of Xiaobai’s estrus, which meant that our Teacher Bai was about to become Father Bai. We originally planned to take it for surgery after the Spring Festival, but who could have expected that 2020 was so special. The sudden epidemic made us unable to go out for a long time. During that period, the smell of urine filled the house all day long. We had to throw away more than one quilt that was wet with urine, and our life became a bit messy.

Finally, at the end of February and the beginning of March, the situation improved, and we were able to take Xiaobai for surgery. On the day of the surgery, Xiaobai still didn’t know what was about to happen. There seemed to be big question marks in its little head. When it saw the doctor carry it away, it was still looking confused. Its pitiful appearance made people feel very sad.

After Xiaobai came home from the surgery, for the sake of its wound, we were worried that it would get under the sofa and come into contact with dust, which would affect the wound healing. So, we put it in a cage. Unexpectedly, slowly, Xiaobai actually liked the second – floor position in the cage and often slept there. My daughter also likes to get into the cage to accompany Xiaobai. The picture of a person and a cat in the cage is very warm.

At this time, my cousin also wanted to raise a cat. I didn’t hesitate to recommend a Siamese cat to my cousin because the Siamese cat in the coffee shop was so clingy before, which left a deep impression on me. In contrast, my Xiaobai was really too cold. My cousin listened to my suggestion and really bought a Siamese cat home. When my cousin brought the Siamese cat to my home to play with Xiaobai, looking at the little Siamese cat, I was full of joy. The Siamese cat is lively and active. As soon as it entered the house, it explored everywhere, while Xiaobai still looked calm and quietly watched this “little guest”. The interaction between the two cats is very interesting. The enthusiasm of the Siamese cat and the coldness of Xiaobai form a sharp contrast, adding more joy to our home.

Xiaobai’s life is still going on. Every change and every move of it touches our hearts. From the initial naughtiness, to the troubles of estrus, and then to the recovery after surgery, its growth process has also become a precious memory in our lives. We look forward to it continuing to live a healthy and happy life, and also look forward to more interesting stories between it and the Siamese cat, bringing more warmth and joy to our lives.
