Three stories about dogs that I personally experienced

Three stories about dogs that I personally experienced (3)

Another one is about my neighbor at the next-door unit.

A middle-aged couple, the wife was on sick leave at home, and they kept a Teddy, whom they doted on.

The husband didn’t like dogs, especially Teddy. His catchphrase was: This little thing is not a dog! Why keep it?

The wife didn’t work, so she spent a lot of time with the dog every day. The man had no choice, after all, he didn’t need to put in any effort for it, so he could only complain verbally.

When Teddy was more than three years old, the wife’s health had almost recovered. The child was not around, and it was uncomfortable to rest at home every day, so she wanted to find a job. Of course, the main reason might be that the man was always nagging and showing disdain. (This is what I guessed from the hints in the mistress’s words. After all, it’s someone else’s family affair, so I didn’t ask too much.)

Not long after I started working, I met a woman who complained to me: her husband refused to walk the dog, and the company was far away and he had to go out early in the morning. Now he can only walk the dog for a while after getting home late from work every day. The dog is so pitiful, and has to wait for a whole day. The man is an idle position in the system, and he has time to help walk the dog twice, but he just doesn’t want to. The mistress was angry and aggrieved.

I said, why don’t I help you walk it. You can leave it at my house before going to work, and when your husband comes home in the evening, I will take it back after walking it. Anyway, my dog has to be walked twice a day, so it’s just a matter of convenience.

The female neighbor was also embarrassed to bother others. She felt that she had to go out very early every day, and I would definitely be asleep at that time. It would be too inconvenient to disrupt my work and rest schedule because she helped her walk the dog; besides, leaving the dog at my house for a whole day is okay occasionally, but it will also cause me a burden if it continues for a long time.

I thought so too, it’s not realistic to do this for years.

After she and her husband had several arguments about this, she decided to send the dog to her sister’s house. Her sister was also in this city, halfway away from us, about thirty kilometers away in a straight line. Her plan was to visit it more often during her rest time, and when her job became stable in the future, she would try to bring the accounts home to do (it was an accounting job), and then take it back.

There was no other way, it was the only way. Fortunately, her sister’s house had a small yard, and the family usually liked this little Teddy, so life would not be bad there.

As a result, on the second weekend after sending it there, when she went to visit during her rest time, she found out that the dog had been missing for three or four days!

Her sister did not inform her in time because she was worried that she would be anxious and angry. Her sister’s family had been looking for it these days, and also posted small advertisements nearby, thinking that it might be found soon, so she would not worry.

As a result, when she went there on the weekend, she still hadn’t found it. She was also angry and anxious, and she was very angry with her sister. She drove around the neighborhood after work those days, and even went to the stray dog base in this city to look for it, worried that someone had reported it to the police and sent it to the base.

There was no trace of it.

When I met her again, I could clearly feel her frustration. It was said that she had a big fight with her husband over this, and they almost divorced. In the end, the man compromised first and accompanied her to look for the dog. A few times, he heard people say that there was a dog that looked very similar in a certain place, but when he went there, he either couldn’t find it or it wasn’t the dog.

A few months passed like this. We also met several times along the way. At the beginning, I would ask: Have you found it?

But later, I wouldn’t ask if I met her. We knew that the longer the time had passed, the slimmer the chance of finding it. I was afraid of reminding her of her sad memories, so I stopped mentioning the Teddy.

Unexpectedly, one day, when I was walking home from work and passing by her apartment building, I saw her husband talking to a few people from a distance, and in his hand – he was holding her Teddy!

The little Teddy named Doudou or Lele, probably had just had his hair cut, and looked a lot thinner than before, but in good spirits. When I got closer, I heard the male owner say to the people next to him in a slightly excited tone:

Yes! It came back last night! I didn’t recognize it. People said it was your Doudou and it was rummaging through the trash can downstairs! I saw that it was a dark puppy, it couldn’t be my Doudou! My Teddy is a light-colored one! This one can’t be it. As a result, when it saw me, it pounced on my feet, howling! Then I recognized it was my Doudou! How pitiful! Black, thin legs, and limping! How could it find its way back? We all thought it would never come back! Her sister’s house is dozens of kilometers away from us! How could it find its way home? My wife cried when she saw it! I took it to give it a bath and dewormed it early this morning, and bought a lot of meat Bones, give it a good rest!

The male owner said with a particularly proud tone, while leaning down and constantly touching it. The people around him talked about it: It’s not easy, such a small Teddy, I don’t know how it has been through these few months, how much it has suffered! It’s a good dog!

In fact, I am not surprised by what others say. What surprised me is the tone and demeanor of the male owner, which is completely opposite to his previous attitude. I have never seen him treat this Teddy like this. He used to look disgusted…

A few days later, I met the female owner again-she was in high spirits and didn’t wait for me to speak: My Doudou is back! He found it by himself! The little guy suffered enough, and he was so thin that you can feel his bones… I hugged it and cried for a long time, and my husband also wiped his tears, saying that he never thought that Teddy would miss the master like this, and he could find it by himself after a few months. I don’t know how he found his home. My husband is now very precious to it. He rushes to walk it every day and makes delicious food for it… I don’t have to worry about it anymore!

I am also sincerely happy for her. And for this cute and lucky Teddy Doudou.

After months of sleeping in the open on the way home, what kind of fear and worry did such a small dog go through? Teddy is different from large dogs. It is very timid and its sense of smell is much worse than that of large dogs. I dare not imagine how it walked so far along the road that was like a whistling four-wheeled monster to it, how it avoided cars when crossing the road, and how it searched for food with a hungry stomach?

There were many times of strong winds and heavy rains in these months. For this little Teddy weighing less than ten pounds, how did he persist in finding his owner’s house?

Later, he met the male owner for several walks. Every time, he would hear the male owner shouting in a doting tone: Good boy, walk slower!

It’s really happy.

Another human being changed by a dog!
